I forgot to answer the other part of your question. All you need to do is
create a new profile based on the General profile, call it eleanor's profile if
you like, and then the date won't be announced, but all the other settings will
be OK.

But we might not want to change the Profile Steve from General to something
else as the other Profiles have different functions, e.g. the one for a meeting
is on silent with regard to telephone ringing so that would not be much good.
Steve I must look for that little block thing that came with the N95. Hope I
can find it but won't know until I return to London in 10 days. In the
meantime how much would one cost? Do you use it? Do you find it helpful?

Only by changing the profile you use. This only happens with the General
profile.
