Maybe their format is different Steve. I will get someone to send me a text with their telephone number and try it from there.

Hi Eleanor,

Without seeing the text, I am not quite sure how to answer it then.

Hi Steve
It was automatic find off and the telephone number was in a text message. I

got it from 195 vodafone telephone directories!!! Presumably it was
properly formatgted.

Hi Eleanor,

Was auto find on or off? Did it say Automatic Find Off? If it did then
you
didn't enter the number as a formatted telephone number. And it needs to
be
in a text message, not notes.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve
I gave that a go about trying to put in a number, but when I pressed
options, there was nothing about use numbers. In short I could not do it!
Doubtless you will help sort me out on this one.

Hi Eleanor,

No, You didn't get it wrong. Let's say I sent you a message that said
Alex's phone number is 01234 567890. You could then do Options, Use
Numbers, from within the text message, and the phone will seek out
anything
that looks like a phone number and offer to put it in your contacts for
you.
That's what auto find is.

All the best

Steve

I know that Steve, maybe I had misunderstood then. I thought Alex was
saying that if someone sent you a contact number in a text message or an
e-mail or web address this automatic find off facility enabled you to put
in

to your phone. Did I get it wrong then?

Hi Eleanor,

If someone sends you a text, open it, then Options, Add To Contacts.
What's
wrong with that? You will then be asked if you want to update an
existing
contact or create a new one. Select whichever you want, and you will be
placed into the contact ready to edit the other fields like name etc.

All the best

Steve

Hi Alex that sounds great. Can you give me an example. For instance
you
ksent me a text message with your mobile and home telelphone numbers. I
had

to write them out on my computer and then put them in as new contacts.
Now
I would love to know the effecient way of doing this. Also if someone
sends

me an e-mail address or web address through a text message. Many
thanks.

it allows you to use or copy, phone numbers, web addresses, e-mail
addresses
etc from text messages or e-mails.
Cheers

Hi Jackie,

Yes, I could not find it either.

However, you may be wrong about Automatic Find being off. If Talks
says
Automatic Find Off, then it is on. Off is the action that will happen
if you press the select key. This confuses a lot of people, but it is
like a switch. Talks is not reading you its current setting, it is
reading what will be set if you act on it. If you turn it off, then
Talks will say Automatic Find on.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve

As I've just received an incoming message, and was curious by Carol's
query, I tried to send it via Bluetooth and, like her, don't have an
option on my phone to do so where you suggest. In fact, when in the
text message, I can go into options and choose from the following:
reply
with a sub-menu to do so via text or multimedia; forward; delete; call
with a sub-menu to do so via voice or video; use the automatic find
which, on mine, is off; look at message details; move to folder; help;
or exit. But there is definitely not a send via Bluetooth option
there.

I've seen a send via Bluetooth in applications like the contacts or
calendar.

Hi Carol,

I haven't tried this, but worth a shot.

Go into your text message on the phone. Select Options, Send, Via
Bluetooth. When the phone gives you a list of devices, select your
computer. I believe then the text message should end up as a txt file
in you're my Documents\My Bluetooth Received Files folder.

Hope this helps.

All the best

Steve

Hi all,

Following the thread on using wireless with the N95, I was cautioned
about safety and decided I'd once again look at my bluetooth options
for
my desktop. Yes, I've got that little dongle thing to work too and
transferred

a file from desktop to phone successfully! Thanks for encouraging me
to
have another go at this ...

However, I have one thing I want to do and don't know how to achieve it and that was one of the reasons I wanted to transfer between the two in
the first place. I have a couple of text messages which were sent to
my
phone and I really need to keep and want to store them on my desktop.
There isn't

an option given on the phone (that I can find) to send via bluetooth
anywhere. Does anyone have an idea how I may achieve this, please?

Thanks.
