Apology Steve. I should have quoted directly and no offence was meant. I was so clumbsy and all over the place with the e71 and trying to write like on a qwerty keyboard, hands too big for the phone and as I gained the confidence I found that I eventually ended up with left index finger only for all keystrokkes. It was just a genuine interest in your dislike of these keyboards. I was so quick on the numeric pad and I am finding that strange now when I go back to it, sort of lost my rhythm there! *smile*. Now I must not go on or I will be told off by the Moderator.

Hi Eleanor, I didn't say that QWERTY is not suitable, I merely said I don't like it.That is completely different. I hate it. My way of working means that I cantext with my left hand on the keypad without using my other hand except to hold the phone steady. Thanks Steve. I wonder why you feel so strongly about qwerty on a phone. Actually it has taken great practice and I will make no secret of that on e71, I certainly did not acquire the skills as quickly as some members of this list and I do not use the predictive type text as I need to be 100% effecient with the keyboard before I ever do that. Want the skill to be automatic so that I do not loose it again. Indeed I would say now that I am 99% effecient with my left index finger only and 2 thirds the speed I previously had with N95 and N96. I have progressed from a few word textmessages, through to a sentence, then building on that to more sentences andthen progressed to e-mails which were very short at first but now as long asI choose. A lovely phone I have to say the e71. I would be interestedthough to know why you feel qwerty are not suitable for the phone. Finally I must get a sighted person to look at the phone for or with me because forexample if i press the function key and the letter K I can get the dash symbol and I think there must be other symbols available in a similar manner. If anyone knows these then perhaps you would let me know. I amaware of going in to the symbols screen by pressing the Talks key twice, sothat is not a problem but I know I have accidentally hit the apostrophy on the qwerty itself but cannot remember what I did for instance.# Eleanor----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, September 25, 2009 12:55 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Any more news...Hi Eleanor, No, it is a slide phone with a standard keypad with nice buttons. QWERTY is awful in my view and I wouldn't touch it on phones. Hi, is there any more news about N97 and Talks? I'm getting to a point where I really have to make a decision, N86 or N97! I don't want to be lumbered with an N97 if speech is months and months away if it comes at all, but of the 2 handsets it has the feature set I'm looking for! Apart from the 8 MP camera the N86 doesn't look a whole lot more powerful than the N82 in reality, whereas the N97 is massivo!
