Hi Hussein and Pete,

First thanks goodness that someone understands what I'm raving about! :)

Yes, I figured that this issue is because the telephone app is activated once
the phone starts ringing. That's why I think that this issue is quite tricky to
solve. Hence my suggestion to add a "use default audio settings" option to the
Volume During a Call control. So if Talks is set to "use default audio
settings" then it will behave like prier versions to Talks 5. This suggestion
is a workaround until a proper solution is developed. If I'm honest I can't
believe that no one noticed this issue during the developing and the beta faze
for Talks5.

Using (Talks + #6), I used to raise up the Talks volume quickly when I'm in a
noisy environment so when a call comes in I can here the caller's name read by
Talks. When I'm back home or during the night, as Hussein indeed pointed out,
it's (Talks + #5) to lower the Talks volume so I don't wake people up when I'm
checking who's calling before answering. This is only an example. During the
day I'm on the street, then in a meeting, then in a cafe then to a lecture and
so on. I'm damned if I will have to go into Audio settings five or six times a
day just to adjust the Talks volume. Do you see why this is really inconvenient?

So please please Talks dealers pass on this Use Default Audio Settings
suggestion to the Talks developers teem until they find a way to actually
control the Talks volume just during a call.

I've to say before I finish that this Talks release is otherwise a really good
release. I love the Talks + Call to read the time. Excellent improvement if you
like me use a slide phone.

Sorry for the long post!

Cheers,
Amro

Ah, that makes sense and I should have realised this. Of course I was
thinking of only the period the actual call was active rather than the
application. Silly me!

  Thanks,

  Hi

this is because if the phone is ringing i.e a call is coming in then the
telephone app is activr, same when ending a call, until the phone completely
ends the telephone app process then Talks will use the telephone app settings.

The telephone app volume is 5 as default if i recall correctly, this can be
changed in the talks menu under options i.e the drop down list where you find
register and licence info, the item is called audio settings. Change it to a
more prefered default and if you find you need a different volume when in a
call then you can use talks and number 5 or 6 to manipulate. Have a play in the
audio settings options and yoo should find the volume options you are looking
for as there are options for in a call and outside a call.

  Hth

  Pete

  Hi,

It's the same when a call ends. The volume doesn't switch over immediately.
So, if at night you'll suddenly hear the volume come through really loudly
just after you've hung up. Hopefully you don't have any light sleepers
  nearby!

Well folks. Could anyone then tell me if the same issue happens on your
Nokia models? I'm interested to know what the score is with the N series
models. My original email is below but here's a snap!

"The problem is that the Volume During a Call option kicks in immediately
once the phone starts ringing and not after the call is actually answered.
  i.e. too quickly."

If I haven't explained the problem well please let me know! :)

Subject: [talks-uk] An issue with Talks V5 and the Volume During a Call
  option

  Hello,

  Using Nokia E66.

I have a problem with the new Talks V5 (Volume During a Call) option.

The problem is that the Volume During a Call option kicks in immediately
once the phone starts ringing and not after the call is actually answered.
i.e. too quickly. And this is not how it should be I assume.

With the new Talks version, when reading the caller's name by pressing soft
key 2 while the phone is ringing, Talks now is using the (Volume During a
Call) level rather than the normal Talks volume level i.e. the (Volume
Outside a Call). This is not how it should be and I can think of few
scenarios where this can cause problems.

I suggest that if this issue is tricky to sort out then a workaround could
be to add a (use default) setting to the (Volume During a Call) option. This
setting is to tether the (Volume During a Call) setting to the (Volume
Outside a Call) setting. In other words, the (Use Default) option I'm
suggesting will make Talks behave like older versions in regards to volume
  level.

Hope I'm making any sense? Please let me know what you think.

  Cheers,
  Amro
