Indeed Caroline I am amazed that this issue has not been raised before this, nearly 10 months surely now since we have been able to use QO.

Eleanor,

I am also experiencing the same problems when trying to read a long Word
document in Quick Office. I can only read a few lines at a time before the
speech stops and I have to continue by arrowing down. I've also noticed
that the further through the document I get, the less responsive Talks
becomes. It is a shame as Quick Office is a most useful application for
editing documents, but reading them back still needs some work.

Caroline.

Did you manage to read the Word document with Talks? Anyone else able to
read a long Word document on their phone with Talks without having to arrow
down line by line?

Eleanor,

This is just a stab in the dark. What happens if you increase the time
before your screen goes into standby, or power saving state to the maximum
value possible? Do you still have the problem of the speech stoppping
after
the first page or whatever? With regard to the apostrophe, again just a
stab in the dark, but what happens if you set Talks to speak all
punctuation?

I haven't tested this myself hence it's just an off the cuff hypothesis.

OK Hussein, I agree with you to an extent. Now maybe you can answer a
question for me then. Say I have a 12 page word document on my phone and
I
want to read it from start to finish, just sit down in a chair, breath a
sight of relief and off we go!!! It doesn't happen for me, I can only
hear
a few lines this when I am in Edit mode and press Talks and arrow down.
Now

what is going wrong for me here?

With reference to the minor updates of talks I agree, good for those who
had

phones where Talks was not working and is now working. I have an e71 and
talks does not say apostrophy when I hit ' so that would be a valuable
minor

upgrade for me. I think major upgrades are important to keep ahead of the
competition with Mobile Speak and even the Apple iPhone.

Hi,

It's promising that there seem to be rumours going around about an update being due soon. I think the major ones are usually released around April
or
May but who's going to complain if it's earlier? I hope it is a
significant
upgrade, as this will really be necessary in order to improve
compatibility
with the newer phones. I haven't just been all that impressed with the
last
couple of minor updates, although having said that I can understand that
people whose specific phones were targeted for improvement will be happy.
I
have to say that the number of applications that are compatible with
Talks,
not necessarily because they were designed that way but just because they
were designed in a way that Talks can handle is slowly increasing, which
really allows us to get the most from our phones. The next major
challenge
I think will be that of improving battery life. Once that sees an
improvement, we will really be rolling.

Yeah I seem to have the same problem. I mean it does warn that if you
disconnect it won't synch properly, but then I don't want it constantly
downloading email either. I can't wait till talks gets the new version. I
heard in a podcast that it will be by the end of this month, but believe
it
when I see it, lol.

Hi,

I am using Emoze and have one question. When deleting emails, is there
a
way of deleting them from the server as well? It goes off the phone ok
but

then I get the messages again when downloading emails on the PC.

Cheers.

Hi Hussein,

Interesting. Any particular reason that you refuse to use it? It's
quite a
respectable Email client if you don't want Imap.

Hi Steve,

Don't worry about it. I think you've gotten confused somewhere along
the
line and we've been talking about two separate things all along.

Emoze and Nokia are indeed two separate things. the Nokia supports
subscriptions to other IMAP folders. As for Emoze, I don't know as I
refuse
to use it.

All the best,

Hi Hussein,

Emoze is nothing to do with Nokia. The Nokia Email client works well
with
Imap folders, it just doesn't work currently with the N86. But it
will.

Hi Steve,

You're mistaken my friend.

Under S60 v3 go to Messaging > Email > Mailboxes > <mailbox name> >
Retrieval Settings > Folder Subscriptions. You may have to open the
root
folder to see folders contained inside it. After this you can
subscribe
to
additional folders as required.

HTH.

Hi Elliott,

Of course it is a problem if you can't even access Imap folders, which
you
can't. You can only access your inbox with Imap. It is not a bad
Email
client, but not there yet.

true. However, you can choose how many messages are downloaded so it
isn't really a big problem.
