Hi Graham. Apart from the little irritation I mentioned in my last post to
you, there isn't really anything wrong with the 6680, I am happy with it. I
think though that a change makes things interesting. the thing that got me
on this upgrade thing was the N95 and it's 8g micro drive. I know some here
said that vodafone had it wrong and the N95 doesn't have an 8g micro drive
and I mentioned this to Vodafone but they said that they are not in error
and the N95 does indeed have an 8g micro drive. With the contradictory
messages and the fact the upgrade was going to cost the better part of £300,
I decided to opt out of the N95 for the meantime. However the thought of
upgrade has got a hold and a change seems worth pursuing, but only if I am
going to get a better product or there is some advantage to myself in being
locked into another contract, such as I mentioned in my post to Barbara.
Walter.

what is wrong with the 6680? it is not a bad phone at all and, if you use
the phone to read wap pages you will not be able to do that anymore as
currently the new nokia browser is as far as I know not supported.

I don't know if Nuance are to do anything about this. They seem so damn
secretive about what they will be doing in future versions of talks and even
product history is patchy and poorly documented.

Regards

Graham

Thank you Barbara. I appreciate your comments and will take them into
account when making my mind up. From what you have said, There doesn't seem
to be a kick in the rear end difference worth dumping the 6680 for the N73.
I have got to decide whether locking myself into an 18 month contract is
worth it for the N73 or E65. I wouldn't want 2 phones, so thus far the only
advantage of getting the upgrade and locking myself into the contract seems
to be, depending on which phone I liked best, to keep the N73 or E65 with
talks and sell my 6680 with Talks. Or, just keep the 6680 and sell on as
new either the N73 or E65. Decisions, decisions LOL. Walter.

On a personal note, I like both handsets. The N73 is quite bulky though and
the E65 more of a slimline handset and it's a slider. It has a nice grip but
I did find some keys a bit fiddly, especially the TALKS key which was almost
set into the side of the handset and very hard to get at. The N73 is
chunkier as I said but despite many people talking about faults on it such
as crashes, I've had none of these and been using it for a couple of weeks
now. It's only drawback is perhaps that it is chunkier than the E65, not
much between them I'd say.

A few weeks ago I asked opinions on the N95. there was varying opinions on
the phone and these were of great value but as the upgrade would cost ?300
and I could do other things with that money I have decided to pass that one
by. However, Vodafone can offer a free upgrade to the N73 or the E65. I
would appreciate comments on these phones please. I know the N73 has been
spoken of previously by others but since at that time I wasn't thinking
about that phone, I didn't read these posts. Is the N73 superior in any way
to the 6680 which I have now? What is the Keypad layout, what facilities
does it have etc? What are it's negative qualities? ? I would also
appreciate the comments and experiences of others with the E65 but from what
the customer services girl was saying, it seems to be a more
business/professionally orientated phone. All comments will be gratefully
received. Walter.
