thanks.  I should really correct myself again: those who receive SSI or
social security in some way have already received $250 of the $400 credit.
 
so, you subtract this and you still can receive $150 of the credit (unless
you received more than $250 last year; I'm not clear if everyone received
the same amount or not).

Earlier I mentioned the "making work pay" stimulus payment, available via
your income filing form this year.
 
here's a short explanation as to why those receiving certain governmental
benefits are not eligible:
 
"So, in its infinite wisdom, Congress came up with another Rube Goldberg
machine,
which resulted in the IRS having to create Schedule M.
If you are working AND receiving Social Security, Supplemental Security,
Veterans'
benefits, or RailRoad Retirement benefits, the amount of your maximum Making
Work
Pay $400 credit is reduced by the $250 Economic Recovery Payment you got
(last year)."
