is there a way to do a verbal or description in writing for those who can't make it to the Lighthouse?

Also, until Friday, 3/18, the samples of the bus stop tactile markings
are at the Lighthouse for your examination - there are three options,
and the Lighthouse (a.k.a. Jada) will record your vote on which is
your first choice to report to Star Metro.

Sila anothers on the list that may not be aware of this.

In an email posted to this list with subject line StarMetro Begins
Installation of Brand New StarStops

The announcement stated in part:

Another accessibility feature of the new StarStops is a one-inch Braille
plate that will sit on the front of the pole four feet from the ground. This plate will feature the route letters in Braille and in raised lettering, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. At the time of the launch, all StarStops at the 43 transfer intersections will feature Braille plates.
All other Braille plates will be installed shortly after the launch.

Yes indeed! Think he's working on a name change, Heckle! Seriously, thank you, John! Persistence paid off! This didn't happen over night and I fully

realize that it involved time, commitment and determination. Again, THANK
YOU!

Now lets hope they can get the tactile markings so that blind people can
locate those poles to read those signs and catch those buses! And use that

service and get out and about and show the world of Talley that blind
people are capable and independent and yes, dare devils!

fyi, the story I hear is that we should thank John Plescow for pressing
the
braille/raised print bus stop labeling issue; I have heard he's been
repeated told "no funding", but pressed it to someone else at the city,
and
they found funding!

At the TCB meeting, the Lighthouse will also have the new Star Metro bus
stop pole and signage on hand for you to see which sign you like best.
There
are three choices in raised print & Braille that will be on each pole to identify the bus stop number. We'll give the feedback we collect from you

to
Star Metro.

Hope to see you there!
