Having read all the posts since this, I can tell you that the way one of the store employees found what aisle I needed was, she had a hand held device and typed in an item and the device would say what aisle it was in, and also would say when more was going to be delivered.

Hi Barbara,

I can understand all the problems you must face in shopping. have you
considered mail ordering dry goods from some place like Amazon.com? it
would cut down on the number of trips you'd have to make, if you had enough
room to store the stuff, which must be bought in bulk I understand.

I've been waiting months for this to open and they have postponed it several times, so it is nice to have it finally here. I have no intention of going
there until the excitement and crowds have been reduced.

Re Joe's note: Having a map of what's in an aisle is good, but only if they
keep it that way. I was in Walmart's this afternoon looking for an item
which is always in the coffee aisle. After looking at every aisle, I
finally discovered the coffee had been moved and was in an aisle that was at a right angle from the packaged food aisles. And my item wasn't there. So I looked and looked for someone who worked there and finally someone told me
which aisle to look in. It was not one I would have thought of. And only
one of the item was there, not the 4 I had hoped to get as it's more and
more difficult for me to get around and I like to purchase multiples if
possible. Oh well.

The number of items available sounds pretty good, and especially the number of staff that's around to help you find something. For me, I need a go-cart
and lately, both in Publix and Walmart there have not been any available,
all being used or disabled.

Hope things will get better. Thank you, Allison for the great review.

I see your point, but this is the sheet which publix handed out.

I'll try and write a program to resort the aisle data, so you can have it
aisle by aisle.

Hi, this is nice but for us as a blind person I would say to have the map
done by aisle by category then broke down so far. This way it would be
easier for us to memorize or put on something like the iphone or victor
Stream or digital recorder to take with you to know where the stuff is.
Just
some thoughts.

Hi all,

Allie is all excited about the new Publix, so she wanted to do a
description
for everyone on TABI: both the layout, and a review of various things.

--------

Hello, TABI Peeps,

I was at the Grand Opening of the new Publix, and as promised, they have a map and an aisle listing. So I thought I'd take a minute and give you the
aisle listing and then work on a description of the map for you all in a
separate email. (That will explain where aisles listed as "Pharmacy" or
"Dairy" are located in the store.)

Before I begin, a mini-review:

If you love to cook, you'll love it--they have so much more than the other
store, including every ingredient you can think of, both basic and
gourmet,
and everything you need to cook including cookware, small appliances and
utensils.

If you don't love to cook, you'll love it--they have a full pharmacy,
separate sections for organic, wine and gourmet cheese, expanded bakery,
salad bar, a hot bar with Chinese food and 4 soups-of-the-day, a vastly
expanded section of hot deli foods and a sandwich bar.

They also have scores of people to help you. Whenever we asked where an
item was located, the Publix staff told us and then wanted to take us to
the
aisle.

The only downside to the new store is that the aisles are fairly narrow, a
little wider than 2 carts across. And it was crowded for the Grand
Opening,
of course. (You would think people in Tallahassee had never seen a
grocery
store
before!)

If this is the Publix that is convenient for you, it will be so worth the
effort to relearn the layout of the store, so without further ado, the
aisle
listing.

~Allie
