I think this is an outstanding idea … but only if you can physically have
present demo models of each product which a customer could examine before
purchase. It’s the ability to examine before purchasing which would be of such
great benefit, not so much the ability to place an order through you guys … to
then perhaps wait for a slight discount. And of course it would be great to be
able to walk in and just walk out with the item desired, instead of having to
wait a week for it to be delivered.
Good luck,
Chip

Yes, Lighthouse owns the store. We have made arrangements to sell the products
with a slight markup but still at a lower price than an individual can get the
products from the manufacturer. The website and designated phone line are
phase 2. We are hoping to have that done by the end of the year.
Right now, people can call the office and order products over the phone with a
credit card. If there is a product someone wants and we don’t have it, we can
order it.

Ok so the light house of the big bend own the store? If so or if not so how
much of the sale go to the light house of the big bend? Not everyone can get by
the store in person so need an online catalog or site or at least a accessible
mail catalog. I assume the store has a number to it a phone number to call to
find out what products they have and can buy them over the phone?
Thanks,

Hi Everyone,
The store is located inside Lighthouse of the Big Bend and offers products such
as magnifiers, kitchen aids, daily living aids, and entertainment items such as
large print crossword books and playing cards.. We do not have a website yet.
The idea for a separate store with its own name grew from interactions many of
us have had in the community. There are many people (like my dad and other
family members) who are not ready to admit their vision is as bad as it
actually is. They are not ready to admit they need help. The store offers them
a way to get some of the items to help make their daily lives a little easier
but also serves as a bridge to the other services we offer at Lighthouse. Since
the article hit the Democrat yesterday, we have had two walk-in customers who
fit this demographic. We were able to give them information on our programs to
take with them when they left. I think it will be easier for some people to
hear “hey you should go visit this store and check out their products” than “I
think you need services from Lighthouse of the Big Bend.”
I hope you will stop by and check out what we have and offer your suggestions
on products we should carry or on how we can get the word out there.
Thanks,
Kim Galban-Countryman
