But, everyone, those monies aren't there right now, and people like Gary and I, have to approach the state--and I'm not certain whom to ask--because Meridian Road is a state highway with sidewalks intermittently on both sides, and I don't suggest crossing Meridian in the middle of the block because motorists take the "highway designation" seriously.

Side walks and transfer points for all ensures, protects and backs our independence!Absolutely Denyece!----- Original Message ----- From: "Denyece Roberts MSW" <peace05@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, November 08, 2009 10:33 AM Subject: [tabi] Re: NOVA 2010I think you are right. There is no reason why we can't have side walks and transfer points which can be safe for all. I agree we should stick to what we want with in reason get the city to hold off on the noba20 plan until safety is granded. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Easy Talk" <easytalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, November 08, 2009 8:49 AM Subject: [tabi] Re: NOVA 2010William as you saidif we had waited for every bus stop to be accessible, we wouldn't have a busline today. This is true and has been a problem in Tallahassee for at least 20 years and most likely since the original bus system was started. Now is the time tochange that. We as blind people have tried for years to get the city tobecome more pedestrian friendly and now we have an ally in Star Metro which gives us more power. If this is done right, we will have a bust system to be proud of but the City is going to have to step up to the plate and makethe city more pedestrian friendly.Star Metro may be able to implement the new system with out much additional cost but the city is going to have to spend some money for side walks andsafe transfer points. If they aren't willing to do this then we need to stand against the Nova2010 plan until they do. I don't want you to think every harsh word I say was leveledat you, but when I asked for suggestions about which transfers needed audible signals, I got suggestions that were not even on the routs and suggestions about where the lines should go. Now I'm not saying suggestions cant be helpful, but this has become so fragmented that it couldcost more than burning finger tips on the keyboard. I would bet you haveto compromise sometimes when decisions are being made about databases. Weare all going to have to give a little, but I don't want the ones who yellthe loudest to step on anyone who is just a little gentler and kinder. I'mnot saying I am the most quiet in this, but there are people coming to mesaying they want nothing to do with it and all this bickering. I would not be surprised if this plan goes forward, but I would rather makea difference and help shape it as it goes along, rather than throwing thebaby out with the bath water. I truly am glad Erica called me at the beginning of this and said, we mightdisagree about this, but lets not let it ruin our friendship. Senitorsandcongressmen disagree and they do in fact get along. The ones that can'tget along wonder why they are a lone horse. What will be the next issue to come before us. Even when it does, there will be two sides and some will get over it and some wont. I am going todeal with this issue the best I can and with the next one too. As for friendship, I take that very seriously and would not let one post come between you and me. William PS I am keeping this out in the open where it started and I won't sneek around behind anyone's back.
