Robert,

I realize that the law regards driving as a privilege, but most of the drivers out there regard it as a right and are not at all concerned with those of us who have to walk. Maybe the law should do more to make it clear to them that it is a privilege.

That is really sad.  The Tallahassee area has too many pedestrian hits.
I believe that we will continue to have lots of them until we stop
treating driving as a right and start treating it as a privilege.  Maybe
then the drivers will get a clue.

DEMOCRAT STAFF report . Published: November
12. 2010 2:00AM
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed
Thursday evening at the corner of Mahan Drive and
Daylily Lane just east of Buck Lake Road, said Leon
County Sheriff's Lt. Silas Lewis.
Lewis said that around 7:30 p.m., the pedestrian
was on the south-side shoulder of the road and
tried to cross Mahan into passing traffic. At that
time, a vehicle was headed east on Mahan. The
pedestrian was struck and killed by the vehicle as he
crossed Mahan.
The victim has not yet been identified. Lewis said
LCSO officials were still investigating the incident as
of Thursday night.
