I'm sorry, but I disagree completely, and I'm sorry your history is so
incomplete.
When we as a nation passed the civil rights legistlation, such as the civil
rights voting act, in the mid 60s, it was overwhelming disapproved of by the
popular vote. that's right, the numbers were completely against it.
but our high courts, and eventually the supreme court, said the law is the
law, and we have to do it, and everyone was given the right to vote, and
"separate but equal" education was struck down, all at a time when the
population was dead set against.
and no one said "well, how many are we talking about" and, no one else said
"well, do you have the money to pay for this?"; because when the law says
you have to do it, then you've got to do it.
I'm sure Mr. Garrison understands this, but I believe he's trying to
distract the conversation away from that one fact by mentioning numbers that
themselves, if he's lucky, will cause a big debait, and everyone will forget
the obligation to the ADA.
I'm at home sick today, but I felt I had to answer at least this one
message.

It might be the law but do you have the money to spend in court to see if
you can prove it? Also The big word comes back up reasonable. What is
reasonable to you might not be reasonable to someone else. Also it has
always been about the numbers. Every law we have has been about numbers. It
takes in most passive of a legislation to be come law 1 more than half the
voting body. Also most things does not come up to have a chance to become
law if there is not enough people wanting the law or they have hired a
powerful lobbies. This has been the way since we have became a independent
Country. Before that we lived under the Rule of England. So to say it is not
about the number this is just not true. Just some of my thoughts. I still
say a petition is the way to go and don't know that will do it.

you know, it's not about numbers; regardless of how many people are
effected, equal access is the law, and it has to be obeyed regardless of
whether you can show only a few will be adversely effected or not.
picture some post civil rights issue occurring, say locating polling places
only in predominantly white neighborhoods for example, and then officials
saying it was ok because a relatively small number of black people voted in
the last election, and thus this would only inconvenience a small number of
people! utterly ridiculous, and we all know it.
Mr. Garrison needs to be made to understand that this is also a civil right
he's talking about dismissing "because it only effects about a dozen
people".
