It is my opinion that the question of oil revenue will raise its oily head the the next legislature. 2010

What money in the gulf we are going to get from the oil companies. We would
not get any. Beside if I remember correctly that was shot down in the
legislature, it never got out of the Senate. Which my self am happy about.
But lets not get in a political war here lets face what we are going to have to face and the fact is the economy is not good at all and there is a short fall in revenue (taxes) so a lot of stuff will not be funded. That is all I
am saying.

No I not getting my news from fox. I have been working for and around the
legislature for 30 years and I have seen the very, very very good times, I
have seen the good times, I have seen the fair times, I have seen the not
so
good times, I have seen the bad times, I have seen the very bad times and
if
I am lucky enough to be around I will see the very, very, very bad times.
But hoping it want get to that for me to see. I know politics inside and
out
I have did it most all my life. Believe me when I say things are going to
get worst for everyone especially people with disabilities. Especially
disabilities not consider severe. Also state workers are going to be
hurting
also. The stimulus money is gone now we have to face reality. We The State
of Florida is about 3 billion short from last year. Now where are they
going
to get 3 billion dollars? The one that will suffer is the ones that does
not
have the powerful lobbyist working for them. Oh guess what we don't have
this. This being said I hope a miracle happens and we come up with about
20
billion extra for the budget but don't hold your breath. Just my thoughts.

Oh gloom & doom

There is all kinds of reports on NPR about the recession or what ever you
call the thing is over and things will start getting better. That is
except
for the people going back to work. This is always the last to recover
after
a downturn.
You must be getting your news reports from Fox News.

I was referring to the stimulus money that is going around.

Just my thoughts.

When was that told. I don't think there is now. The State of Florida says
they are going to have to deal with almost 3 billion dollar short fall.
If
you don't think this is not going to impact the city and county budget
and
transportations budget think again. We still have the worst a head of us
in
this as they call it a economic down turn. Down turn is not even going to begin to describe what is going to happen in the near future. It is going
to
be a full blown Depression. I don't like it but I am sure they are going
to
try and budget a lot of the short fall on the back of employees. They are also going to cut things to the core watch what I tell you. Audio signals
yes will be nice but getting them in this economy don't think it is
coming
any time soon. Just my thoughts.

Chip,

I can tell you that on two of the three times I have requested audible
signals, they were put in within less than a day, so the money is coming
from somewhere. Also one time when I was talking with traffic
engineering,

I was told to just let them know if we need another audible signals,
because
there is plenty of money in the budget.

It's a good point Blackjack. a good follow-on question would be how
much money is needed for 39 audible signals, and where is it coming
from? is it something that will actually happen "as time and money
permit" or something along those lines?

I think the audio thing is great. I just don't know if it
will have the
money in the budget for this. These things cost a lot of
money. Just some
thoughts to ponder.

Subject: [tabi] Nova Plan

Greetings,

In view of the entire goings on, I thought I would write a
little on what is
happening with the NOVA new bus schedule. As many of you
know, not only
did Sam Scheib come to our TCB meeting, but he brought the
entire team to
put down rumors and take suggestions for the new plan. What
follows is
what I can think of now, but there will be lots more to come.

With MiccosukeeHills,, I made the suggestion that they compromise and
instead of stopping on the road, where there is a ditch, and
driving all
threw the complex,at least pulling into the parking lot where
folks could
come and meat the bus. He immediately thought that would be a good
suggestion for a compromise.

I also asked about the governors Square Mall, I pointed out
that just by
virtue that there is handicapped parking up close to the
building, that the
state and federal government know the danger of walking threw
un controlled
traffic. Again he said he would take that to heart and had
his secretary
write it down.

After Sam left our meeting he called and told us that he had
been working on
our suggestions and had one of his own. He is per posing putting in
audible signals at every place where there is a transfer that requires
crossing the street. Folks, this amounts to sum 39 audible
signals and I
think it is something to be commended.

You all know that White Cane Days is coming up on Thursday
and Sally and my
Tallassee chapter of Lions are going to be out in forse. We will be
carrying signs at Magnolia and call, as well as Capital
Circle and Mahan.
We will have sleep shades for members and others to use to
cross the street
and I have plenty of white canes for them to experience.
Sam's public
relations person along with our Lions president, Ray Maloy
will be inviting
the media. They have already contacted the police
department and they have
shown a willingness to work with Star Metro on traffic issues.

I think this new bus plan has left us with a great
opportunity to get some
concessions before we are left behind. It has come after
years of hard
work and you our blind citizens are the ones to thank.
Please let us all
know if you hear any new news on this subject and we will all
be working
together, rather than pulling against each other.

PS, Sam and his team will be back to TCB after the first of
the year and
staying as partners in this.
