It surely is, Sila, and we keep chipping away at the barriers to public transportation which would give us much more flexibility than does Dial-a-Ride, but I don't want to see blind folks denied Dial-a-Ride as there are places in Tallahassee that getting from the bus stop is all but impossible.

Well, I must say when it gets down to a couple of dollars verses 35 to 40 for a cab? Yeah, I just might be there walking and rolling. I think this is a piece of the puzzle towards changing people's perception of the BUS/public transit. Anyhoo I also must say thank you to all who have stuck their neck out there to get their points across and advocate for a better system! It's all a process, isn't it? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn Evans" <evans-lynn@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, October 30, 2009 11:52 AM Subject: [tabi] Re: Fw: starmetro infoSo you mean to tell me you would be willing to get off a plain with Miss Sila and how many suitcases, Waite for a bus, put your suitcases on the bus, to take your where? To a bus stop how many blocks from your home so you can take the suitcases off the bus and carry them how many blocks to your home? You can't even get a bus into your neighborhood.Star Metro has listened to rider input and has made changes to the plane as long as it doesn't compromise the grand scheme of things. As for the city commission, they have given Ron Garrison everything he has asked for so far.The city commissionwould be the next battle.----- Original Message ----- From: "Easy Talk" <easytalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, October 30, 2009 6:12 AM Subject: [tabi] Re: Fw: starmetro infoThis is pretty shallow thinking, Yes people rent cars or use cabs, can you guess why, there is no bus. What other choice do they have. Also I guess going to the listening session didn't do any good. I ask them to make the loop on village square behind Publix to no avail. It seems like they would listen to my request since going behind Publix would be the side where cypress point apartments are located and the complex has 300 units.I say considering the facts we have so far and the unwillingness of Star Metro to listen to what the tax payers want that we stand against the Nova210 plan and start writing to city commissioners now to try and kill the beast.Robert----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn Evans" <evans-lynn@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, October 29, 2009 4:04 PM Subject: [tabi] Re: Fw: starmetro infoat the first meeting I went to the airport question was brought up. It was broken down into three groupsstudents come and go at the beginning and end of school terms. It is hard to schedule buses around this. Business travelers use their own transportation either rent a car or cab.The same thing for tourist.Busses need to be on a regular schedule each hour. Plains need to match the bus schedule or vice versa.----- Original Message ----- From: "Easy Talk" <easytalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, October 29, 2009 11:12 AM Subject: [tabi] Re: Fw: starmetro infoThey also don't go to the airport which is a city property and could have the potential for more riders.Robert----- Original Message ----- From: "Mister Blackjack" <misterblackjack2@xxxxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, October 29, 2009 6:29 AM Subject: [tabi] Re: Fw: starmetro infoThat would be counter productive. I passed this info to Sila. I got if from Owen, who obtained it from StarMetro directly. And, yes, seniors, disabled, and school-age children all pay 60 cents. I'm pretty sure-- but not positive-- that when a discounted fare is deposited, the driver has to push a key-- presumably one of these 3 categories-- to have the fare box accept it as a valid fare. These figures and percentages are from 2008. Interestingly, also from 2008, 29,979 people boarded at Governor's Square Mall; that's over 85 people per day. There were about 25,000 people boarding at Tallahassee Mall. There still seems to be no concession from StarMetro on going into the malls. The argument for Tallahassee Mall, of course, is that since it is already in recievership (close to being bankrupt), why bother? This is NOT, however, a valid argument, of course, for Governor's Square. Another tidbit: In 2008, the malls were the only 2 stops among the top20 (most boardings) which were not campus stops (FSU, FAMU, and TCC-- don't recall the order). So, 1) this jives with the 76% ofriders being students figure, and 2) makes it all the more ridiculous that they arerefusing to go into the malls! The manager at Gov. Square said he istotally in favor of the buses continuing to come into "his" mall... StarMetro is going to try to make the mall put up any money that would be needed for "improvements" to make the parking lot traverse safe. -----Original Message----- From: Easy Talk <easytalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tue, Oct 27, 2009 12:09 pm Subject: [tabi] Fw: starmetro info Here is a message Sila sent to me. Not sure where she got the info though. I find it interesting that Star metro has such stats available. I guessthey get them from the fair boxes and sales of bus passes but if the disabled fair and seniors pay the same, how do they determine betweenthe two. That said not counting the regular riders approximately 14.3 percent of riders could be disenfranchised and most certainly some of the other riders. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sila Miller" <MillerSi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <easytalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; <silam@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, October 27, 2009 11:10 AM Subject: starmetro info 89 thousand seniors 53 thousand disabled out of the 4.2 million 3 quarters of those were covered under university contracts Thus out of the approximate 1 million left, 5.3 percent disabled 9 percent seniors so, disabled not such a small percentage after all Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABI and please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.orgweb interface, or by sending an email to the addresstabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABI and please make suggestions for new material. if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABI and please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org webinterface, or by sending an email to the addresstabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABI and please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxwith the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABIand please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABIand please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABIand please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABIand please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABIand please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.Check out the TABI resource web page at http://acorange.home.comcast.net/TABIand please make suggestions for new material.if you'd like to unsubscribe you can do so through the freelists.org web interface, or by sending an email to the address tabi-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject.
