StarMetro Ride Guide ? Effective Date July 11, 2011
Welcome to the StarMetro System
StarMetro is the public transportation provider for the City of Tallahassee, 
FL, offering a variety of transportation programs that link our citizens with 
each other, work, school, shopping, medical needs and with all things that make 
life special in the Capital Region.

How to Ride StarMetro
-Find the nearest route to your destination and use the timetables to determine 
the arrival time.
-Determine the time that the bus will arrive at your StarStop ? your starting 
point. Be at the starting point at least five minutes before the bus.
-Have your exact fare or fare card ready when the bus stops. Coach Operators 
cannot make change.
-Wait for passengers to exit, and then board the bus through the front door 
only.
-Place you fare in the farebox. If you are using a FSU, FAMU or TCC student ID, 
show your ID to the Coach Operator.
-If you will be transferring to another route, request a transfer ticket from 
your Coach Operator. 
-When you see the bus approaching you StarStop, press the yellow tape or pull 
the yellow cord to signal the Coach Operator that you wish to stop at the nest 
StarStop.
-Be sure to have all of your belongings with you, and then exit the bus through 
the closest door.
Ride Right ? Code of Conduct
To ensure safety, security, comfort and convenience of those who use our 
services, StarMetro drafted a Code of Conduct, which every customers must abide 
by.
StarMetro?s Code of Conduct includes these guidelines:
-Pay the correct fare
-Respect other passengers? privacy
-Do not cause safety problems
-Use headphones with volume low
-No eating, smoking or littering
-No alcoholic beverages
-Do not harass your Coach Operator or other customers
-Do not lie down in the seats
-Respect transit property
-Use StarMetro?s services and facilities for transportation purposes only



StarMetro?s StarStop
Please remember boarding in only allowed at designated StarStops as seen to the 
left. Double-sided red and blue signs depicting route information are posted at 
all StarStops. Each StarStop features an octagonal pole for visually impaired 
patrons, as well as Braille placards. Each Braille placard depicts the bus stop 
ID number and the route letters serving that particular StarStop. In addition, 
each bus stops shows StarMetro?s phone number and web address should a customer 
have a question while standing at the bus stop. Shelters are provided at many 
locations. Some shared stops may have a university sign blade accompanying the 
StarMetro sign blade.
Next by Text
Customers may receive next bus arrival times by texting StarStop ID numbers to 
27299. In the above instance, a customer would text stop ID SMA02302 to 27299. 
In a few seconds, the customer would receive a corresponding text highlighting 
the next bus arrival times for each bus serving that particular stop. Stop ID 
numbers are identified in Braille on the Braille placard on the front of the 
StarStop.

Transfers are FREE with each one-way fare purchase and are valid for 90 minutes 
from the time of issue. Transfer are not valid for travel in either direction 
of the route origin. A transfer ticket may be used for up to two transfers 
within the allotted 90-minute time and may be used at any location where two or 
more routes intersect, where two of more routes run parallel or where customers 
may walk between routes.

Reduced fare is for seniors, children 17 and younger, person with disabilities 
and persons with a Medicare card. ID cards are required for a reduced fare. ID 
cards may be obtained at StarMetro offices or other social service agencies. 

*A $3.00 service charge will be applied to the purchase of new reloadable fare 
cards. 

Customers may purchase passes at C.K. Steele Plaza, located at 111 W. Tennessee 
Street, and StarMetro?s administrative offices, located at 555 Appleyard Drive. 
Customers must have cash. 






Online Fare Purchase
Customers may purchase 31-day fare cards online at Talgov.com/starmetro. 
Customers must first register for an account before purchasing their StarCard. 
The first 31-day purchase will total $43.75, which accounts for the $3.00 
service charge for all new reloadable fare cards and a $2.75 service fee 
subject to all online purchases. All subsequent 31-day online reloads will 
total $40.75. Within three to five days of the initial purchase, customers will 
received their fare cards in the mail. During the purchasing process, customers 
may opt for an automatic renewal function. With this function, StarCards will 
be automatically reloaded each month. 


Free Wifi With This Ride
Free wireless internet access is available on select StarMetro buses. These 
buses are identified by the logo seen here. This logo is next to the bus door. 
Customers may boards these buses with their portable internet access devices 
and check email, shop online or simply relax and surf the web. 

Dial-A-Ride
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), StarMetro 
operates a curb-to-curb complimentary paratransit service known as Dial-A-Ride. 
This service is available for senior citizens 60 years or older and disabled 
customers who cannot access StarMetro?s fixed-route system. Senior and disabled 
customers must live within the city limits or within ¾ mile of a StarMetro 
route in the unincorporated area to access this service.  

To apply for Dial-A-Ride, please pick up an application at 555 Appleyard Drive 
or call 850.891.5143.

Dial-A-Ride trips cost $2.50 per ride or customers may purchase a $25.00 fare 
card, which is good for ten rides. 

Dial-A-Ride operates Monday ? Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm. Certain holidays are 
excluded.

Guaranteed Ride Home Program 
Go from car-free to carefree. 

If you ride StarMetro to and from work at least three days per week, you 
qualify for het Commuter Services of North Florida?s FREE Guaranteed Ride Home 
Program. This service, which is funded by the Florida Department of 
Transportation, provides a free taxi ride home when an emergency arises that 
requires your immediate attention. Such emergencies include a sick child or 
having to work late unexpectedly. This program is also available to commuters 
who carpool, vanpool, bike and walk.

Bike on Bus
Each StarMetro bus accommodates two bicycles. Only single-set, two-wheel 
bicycles are permitted on buses. If the rack is full, customers should be 
prepared to choose a location to lock up their bike, or wait for the next bus.
