I want to chime in on this issue- It is not so much an issue do we as individuals need to go there, but whether it is accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility is a right given us in 504 of the Rehabilitation act, and ADA. It is a right to access public buildings and programs, a right that others have and why shouldn't we?

I grew up in a time when we had few rights, you now have the right to attend public school and public and private collages, that wasn't always true.

We need to support full access, for all, and I applaud Bob Rtcliff for supporting the right thing to do up front and not waiting until it is a done deal.

Folks we all need to hang together or we will hang separately.
I don't know if I can attend the meeting but I have written all commissioners county manager and Ion Sancho. I hope you will take similar action. Carl ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sila Miller" <silam@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Sila,

If our voter registration and voting system had perfect information at
all times, you may not want to visit. But if your name appears
differently on the books, or if there is a residency question, or
because you simply want to obtain your card in person, or to solve a
myriad of problems that can or have appeared during every election
time, an in-person visit may be essential.

Having served on the canvassing board in the 2000 election, I saw far
too numerous problems with ballots or signature cards or other aspects
of voting to believe that people will not at some time need to visit
the supervisor's office.

Good morning Commissioner,
As I promised, I sent out the information about the Supervisor of

Why would someone have a need to make a visit in person to this
office?
Thank you kindly for any information you may provide.

Hi Sila,

why would someone need to go to his office in person? Is it just to
register to vote, or are there other reasons?

also, do you know, can't you register to vote when you get your
state ID
renewed? and/or at the libraries?

just trying to get an idea as to what kind of impact this may have.

thanks.

Chip

Subject: [tabi] Supervisor of Elections wants to move his office

Good evening Everyone,

I spoke with Commissioner Bob Rackleff this morning. He has asked for our assistance. It seems that Ion Sancho, the Supervisor of Elections wants to move his office from the current downtown location at 315 South Calhoun Street, Suite 110 to the old Circuit City building on Apalachee Parkway. The reason for the proposed move is to consolidate the administrative, warehouse and training branches of this office. The downside, aside from the cost is that the location is not accessible. There is 1 bus route that currently
serves it as opposed to 26 routes at the current location.

This item will be discussed at the upcoming County Commissioner's meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd at 3:00 p.m. The meeting will be held on the 5th
floor of the Courthouse. If you can attend, I would urge you to. In
addition, you may email Ion Sancho, The Supervisor of Elections at
ion@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx with a copy to Bob Rackleff at bob.rackleff@xxxxxxxxx or you may call Mr. Sancho at 566-0930 to express your opinion regarding this move and its affect on accessibility. Should you wish to ask questions
of Commissioner Rackleff, you may reach him at 212-5663.

Thank you.
Sila
