The American Council of the Blind (ACB) and OPAL (Online Programs for All) have 
teamed up to offer an opportunity to attend online the ACB Audio Description 
Project Conference that will be held on July 6-8, 2009.  People participating 
in person will be at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, Florida, while people 
attending online via OPAL will be in a special OPAL online room.

Details and a schedule for the 3-day event are below.  All times are Eastern 
Daylight Time.  

Please note that a registration fee is being charged for this online event.  
Only paid registrants will be able to gain access to the online room.  The link

Due to unprecedented demand (and the wondrous capabilities of the Internet), 
the American Council of the Blind is pleased to offer a VIRTUAL ATTENDANCE 
option for the ACB’s Audio Description Project Conference.  

Description enthusiasts who are unable to be in Orlando for the Conference on 
July 6-8 can listen in and participate via text by registering for virtual 
attendance.  Here’s what you do:

complete instructions on how to access the Conference via the Internet and how 
you can join in on all Conference discussions via text input you’re your

                                                            Barack Obama, 
described by ACB's Audio Description Project 

Barack Obama tells the story of President Obama, from his childhood in Honolulu 
to the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election.   It follows Obama through his teenage 
struggles for self-identity, his student days at Columbia University and 
Harvard Law School, and through his political career in Chicago, where he rose 
to fame through a focus on ethics and political reform.  The video highlights 
Obama's Democratic primary campaign and his journey toward becoming the 44th 
President of the United States.

Network; recipient of an Emmy Award for the development of Descriptive Video 
Service, the Pioneer’s Award from the Accessible Media Industry Coalition, 
Reynold’s Society Achievement Award for development of closed captioning and 
audio description, and The Francis Joseph Campbell Citation from the American 
Library Association for service to the blind; currently serves as a consultant 
for Bridge Multimedia Corporation.
