City Offers Workshop on Foreclosure Issues

Sept. 29 workshop free to the public - As the global economic downturn
continues, some Tallahassee residents may be affected by foreclosure-related
matters. To provide a broad overview of issues related to foreclosure, the City
of Tallahassee is offering a workshop on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at
the Dr. B.L. Perry, Jr. Branch Library, 2817 S. Adams St. The workshop is free
to the public.

The workshop will provide information to help homeowners avoid
foreclosure, and also offer information to anyone who may have received
notification from their lending institution that foreclosure proceedings may be
imminent. Local attorney Keith Halpern will be available to meet with citizens
one-on-one to discuss bank and credit union foreclosure letters, loan
modification programs and related issues.

Citizens attending the workshop who have already been contacted by their
lending institution about foreclosure proceedings are asked to bring the
following documents related to their individual situation: copies of all
correspondence including legal papers, settlement sheet, hardship letter, loan
modification paperwork and the actual mortgage and note.

This information and education workshop is intended only for general,
educational and informational purposes. It is not intended to replace legal
advice or advocate litigation and does not create an attorney-client
