While a handful of committee members did voice support of the Nova2010 decentralization plan, attending citizens voiced concerns over access to the malls and pedestrian safety. The seven-member citizen group agreed to vote on the decentralization project at a special meeting next Thursday, January 28, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at StarMetro's administrative office, located at 555 Appleyard Drive. "Due to attendance issues, we [members of the Transit Advisory Committee] were unfortunately unable to vote on the route decentralization project tonight; however, tonight gave the attending committee members a wonderful opportunity to hear additional input from citizens," said Dr. Gregory L. Thompson, Chairman of the Transit Advisory Committee. "We look forward to voting on the project next week." StarMetro's Nova2010 route decentralization project aims to take the current downtown oriented, hub-and-spoke route structure and break apart each route to create a more grid-like route structure. This decentralized route structure will feature routes running from north to south and east to west, many bypassing downtown's C.K. Steele Plaza.
