The annual Transportation Disadvantaged Legislative Day at the Capitol
will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2012. We will only be
ordering shirts for those who pre-register.

This year’s theme:
NEED A RIDE?
TD…….WE’LL TAKE YOU THERE!

Most people, including Legislators, have never heard of the
Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) Program until they or someone they
know needs this service. This is why it is imperative to educate
those who are making the decisions about all that TD does to benefit
the State of Florida. TD keeps thousands of Floridians independent
and out of institutional care while stimulating Florida’s economy.
For every $1 spent on transportation, the State of Florida receives
more than $8 in return!

Local economies are stimulated with each trip. People do not leave
their homes without accessing medical services, making purchases,
conducting business, or getting to employment. All of these trips
have considerable impact on local communities and the state. Because
of these trips, people have jobs to provide services and money is
spent on these services. These jobs include the businesses that TD
people visit to purchase goods, medical personnel who are paid to
provide their services, and drivers, mechanics, customer service staff
who all have jobs because of the services they provide to the TD
riders.

TD Legislative Day is hosted by FACTS (Florida Association of
Coordinated Transportation Systems) each year through the funds
donated by sponsors. When you sponsor, 100% of the funds go towards
the event which is geared towards creating awareness and support for
the Transportation Disadvantaged Program. Sponsors’ information will
be included in the program, banner and other public relations efforts
for TD Day. If you would like to be a sponsor, please make your check
payable to:
FACTS, TD Day Fund. Mail to: CTD, 605 Suwannee St., MS-49,
Tallahassee, FL 32399.

We encourage sponsors to bring vehicles to display in the Capitol
courtyard. Advanced reservation for vehicle displays is required.

It is so important for legislators to here from the actual people this
program helps! Attendees should go by and meet with the legislators
and their staff to thank them and encourage their continued support.
If you would like to speak with your legislator, we encourage you to
make an appointment with them in advance.

Information will be provided to attendees on any legislation that may
impact the TD Program so that they may discuss with their legislators.
A “Talking Points” and “Informational Brochure” will be included for
attendees to share with Legislators during their visits as well.

Food and entertainment will be provided to all attendees.

Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns on any of the
