The Commission on Ethics is an agency of the Legislative Branch of Florida government that is responsible for investigating possible violations of Florida's ethics laws, advising government officials and employees about their responsibilities under those laws, and implementing the State's financial disclosure laws. The work involves assisting the Executive Branch Registrar with administrative tasks and assignments. Including but not limited to data entry, maintaining of records and communicating effectively with the public and the press. Examples of Work Performed: Performs general office management duties. Assists in handling daily administrative duties and acts in matters where authority has been delegated. Processes a variety of correspondence, investigates subject matter, and prepares replies. Prepares confidential correspondence, secures information necessary for preparing replies, and answers telephone inquiries to relieve supervisor from routine assignments. Answers questions from the public, public officers and employees, and the media about the Executive Branch Lobbyist Registration laws and the Ethics Commission's procedures. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of administrative principles and practices. Ability to pay attention to detail and review work for accuracy and quality of content. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the demands of the public. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and to contribute to the efficient internal functioning of the unit. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and maintain records. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative experience. A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience. Administrative or staff experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
