This is senior level work providing professional legal counsel, representation, advice and opinions on legal matters for the Florida Commission on Ethics, under the direction of its General Counsel and Executive Director. Examples of Work Performed: * Drafts binding, judicially reviewable opinions interpreting the ethics laws for consideration and adoption by the Commission on Ethics. * Prepares written orders analyzing the legal sufficiency of complaints received by the Commission; prepares other orders for consideration and adoption by the Commission. * Represents the Commission in judicial and administrative litigation before state and federal courts. * Provides legal advice to Commission members and staff; assists investigators in preliminary investigations of ethics complaints. * Provides guidance through written correspondence and over the telephone to public officials, the press, and the general public regarding the Commission's interpretation of the ethics laws. * Participates in seminars and other meetings designed to inform interested persons and organizations of ethics laws in Florida. * Drafts rules and related materials necessary for the adoption of rules by the Commission; recommends and drafts proposed legislative amendments. * Prepares and drafts contracts, agreements, and related legal documents for the Commission. * Conducts legal research necessary to accomplish the above. * Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Admission to The Florida Bar and two years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law, or in administrative or judicial hearings. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in administrative law. Experience with Florida ethics laws. Benefits: The Legislature offers a competitive benefits package.
