On behalf of the faculty members of the ASCA Gehring Academy Housing
Track, we are asking our colleagues to please submit this link related to
registration and participation in this year’s program to their respective
listservs. Colleagues will benefit from participating through the
following learning objectives:

Learning Objectives:

* Understand the environment of the residential community and campus
culture in regards to mission, process, and the role one takes in student
conduct for the institution.
* Recognize the legal foundations of student conduct work including the
Dixon Case, FERPA, Clery, Title IX, Title IV and ADA, contracts and tort
law and how all of it impacts work in the residence halls.
* Describe an effective approach to preparing for a conduct hearing in
the residential environment.
* Organize and plan an effective training program for resident
assistants and graduate staff.
* Engage in effective student conduct hearings in the residential
environment that are procedurally sound and learning centered.
* Utilize sound ethical principles as stated by the ASCA and ACUHO-I
professional organizations.
* Identify how conflict resolution can be used to resolve housing
infractions.
* Articulate an effective sanctioning philosophy.
* Explain effective case management from documentation to sanction
completion.
* Develop skills that allow staff to feel more confident as they engage
in the conduct aspect of their residence life job responsibilities.
