The current bank balance as of January 17, 2012, is $474.32. We had 57 members at the end of the year, December 31, 2011. To date we have 39 members, new or renewals. Membership forms and dues will be accepted after the regular meeting today. Walt Peek asked the Planning Committee members to stand and be recognized for the excellent job in helping with this year’s program and the changes to the meeting schedule. He handed out the new program schedule for 2012 and also the results of the survey done in December. The last page of the survey lists the countries members are researching and also the states of the U.S. It was suggested that like members would have an opportunity to share research paths after the formal meeting. Librarian, Pat Brownson was not present today. Al Seames instructed those present that the mentors have a yellow dot on their nametags. Please ask any one of them for help. Some of them will be available after the regular meeting today. The new Username and Password are now in effect and are on the back of your 2012 membership cards. Website of the Month was presented by Frank Horsfall. In his research he used www.findagrave.com a free website. The person he was researching did not appear, which then lead him to Archives.com, a pay site. He found this contained much more information and was worth trying. They offer a 14 day trial and in that time you can find much information. You may cancel membership after searching or keep it for $39.00 per year. The main presentation was “American Indian Research” by Shirley Andreatta. Shirley listed her best resources as follows: Family Memories; Tribal Web Sites; www.accessgengalogy.com/ ; Google Books; National Archives. This presentation was very informative. The meeting adjourned at 3:25 pm Respectfully submitted by Mary Dietz, secretary
