There were 38 present. She asked those present to turn off sound on electronic devices during the meeting. The January 17, 2012, minutes were emailed to each member. Maxine Ludeke asked for corrections or additions. A motion was made by Buzz Brooks, second by Pat Brownson, to accept the minutes as presented. Motion passed. Walt Peek gave the financial report. The current bank balance as of January 31, 2012, is $642.32. We have 53 members, new or renewals. The bank balance as of February 21, 2012 is $682.07. $20.25 was spent for membership cards and received $60.00 in dues, resulting in the new balance to date. Membership forms and dues will be accepted after the regular meeting today. Membership forms are always available at the front desk where you may pay your dues. Librarian, Pat Brownson reminded those present to check out the selection of books available in the genealogy library cabinet located in the back of the computer room. Pat would accept donations of books and genealogy materials for our library. Al Seames instructed those present that the mentors have a yellow dot on their nametags. Please ask any one of them for help. Some of them will be available after the regular meeting today. The survey results done at the December meeting are continually being updated on the website. The purpose for the survey is to allow others researching same states or countries to contact each other. Today we had two representatives of the DAR with us. President of the El Presidio Chapter, Lynn Brook, and Sunflower resident Mary Lou Adler were available after the meeting to answer questions. The main presentation was “Emigration and Immigration Research Tips” by Buzz Brooks. He had 77 slides for a 45-minute presentation. The information will be on the website for further study. This is a very broad subject but he managed to give us ways to get started and places to look. Again, please check the website for further information on this talk. The meeting adjourned at 3:40 pm Respectfully submitted by Mary Dietz, secretary
