Highlights of recent developments on the DoubleSShot project --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -The static firing of the 4-grain DD-slot motor has been postponed from Feb.1st to Feb.15th. -Randy Dormans has completed the 4-grain motor casing for testing the DD-grain configuration. This casing replaces the one damaged by burn-through. Rick will be picking up the casing from Randy this week. http://sugarshot.org/downloads/4-grain-casing-2.jpg -A regular Avionics telecon was held this past Sunday. Attendees were Chris King, Mattias Lampe, Rick Maschek and Richard Nakka. This was a relatively short session, with the de-spin system being the main item of discussion. Richard reported that testing of the de-spin prototype has been completed, with good results, and that a report will be prepared with details of the testing and analysis. Mattias began some preparatory work toward the goal of developing a sensing and control system to enable the de-spin system to sense and subsequently cancel vehicle rotation. -Grant Saviers has kindly offered to donate two high-quality Parker pressure sensors with 0.05% accuracy and 1KHz bandwidth. These sensors have 100 bar (1470psi) capacity, 10 to 35 volt supply, with 0 to 5 volt output. As such, these are compatible with the TC Logger that was recently donated by Ed Brown. Grant will be sending the units to Chris King. -The SS2S Donor page has been updated with Ed Brown and SKF (Spain) as "Donors of Goods & Services": http://sugarshot.org/sponsors.html#Donorservices Each individual donation brings us closer to our goal of pressing the LAUNCH button of our Space-bound rocket: http://www.sugarshot.org/sponsors.html#Donors --------------------------- -Sugar Shot to Space is on facebook.
