You make a good point. I like the compromise of having the "selection
replaced" message because we get immediate feedback of the situation without
losing the advantage of anchor-based selecting.

This seems like an unusual request, since I can't think of any other Windows
app which clears the selection when copying to the clipboard. This is the
price one pays for anchor-based selecting, which is the ability to navigate
in a file without disturbing the selection. The cost of the anchor based
approach is to remember to clear the selection, and that doesn't seem like
an unreasonable trade-off when you consider what you get in return.
I would consider putting up a flash message saying something like,
"Selection replaced", before I would consider clearing the selection when
copied. At least you would have a chance to undo, clear the selection, and
paste again if you received this message.

+1 - I've been caught by this same issue a number of times. It took me a
while to figure out what was going on. Although it is clearly described in
the manual, it is more intuitive to just perform the cut/copy and paste
without having to clear a previous selection.

Subject: [studiorecorder] Clear selectionh after copy to clipboard
Hi Rob:
I have a suggestion. Whenever I copy a sound selection to the clipboard to
paste elsewhere I need to remember to press c to clear the selection.
Otherwise, when I move to the new location and paste from clipboard nothing
happens because the clipboard audio is pasting back over itself since the
selection is still active. I have made this mistake numerous times.
Is it possible SR could automatically clear the selection after copying to
clipboard? I can't think of a use case where I would copy to clipboard and
need the selection to stay active. If I did there is always the Shift+C to
recall it.
Thanks, Gerry
