Hope you are enjoying the May weekend holiday .
Last week was a difficult one at the yard ,mainly due to the drilling
and the mess left when the drillers left .
Thankfully both Skiffs are now back in their allocated spaces .
Ground around is still messy so be aware when you are working there .
Twice last week the gig wheels were left without being secured .
Once ,although padlocked ,the chain was NOT secured to the trailer .
On the second occasion the chain and padlock were left lying on the ground !
One set of gig wheels with delivery charges ,cost almost £1000.
If not secured ,an insurance claim would be unsuccessful !
Ultimately the cox for the session is responsible for checking the skiff
and equipment are left clean, safe and secure .
However ,although responsible ,the cox CANNOT do everything at a session .
They need to delegate tasks then allow time to check, WITH the shore person
that all been carried out before leaving the yard.
We now have access to water which should make things a little easier .
(Cox will have the key)
Gig wheels require to be rinsed to remove all traces of salt water and sand
before being padlocked .
Another task which should allocated to a crew member .
More and more people are aware where we keep the skiffs .
There are more and more people around generally at this time of year .
It is absolutely essential we keep our skiffs and equipment clean, safe and
secure .
