Hopes & Fears
Today's site offers a look at western culture through a quirky melange of
unlikely perspectives. Gentle Subscribers, nevertheless, will discover
intriguing essays and articles in this pleasantly designed online magazine.
"Hopes&Fears is an online publication exploring life and culture through
thematic, visually-oriented international coverage and commentary." - from the
website
While the publication may lean towards the offbeat, it does have a comfortable
and conventional layout with sections designated as City, Culture, Future, Now
and News, found under the relatively new but widely adopted triple line
indicator in the upper left corner of the homepage. These categories are
blissfully ignored on the current opening page which features articles on the
themes of Politics, Film, Design, Experiment, and Question. Among the
attention-grabbing headlines are What Do You Get If You Survive a Plane Crash,
Was War Ever More 'Civilized', and What It's Like to Be an Art Handler for Real
Housewives, Wall Street Weasels, and Jay Z.
Cautionary Note: Due to language which may be unsuitable for the workplace,
discretion is advised.
