Authors' Calendar
Today's site, the collaborative efforts of Finns, Petri Liukkonen and Ari
Pesonen,
offers an interesting biographical resource on writers worldwide, organized
initially by birth date. Gentle Subscribers will find material on a legion of
authors.

The site can be browsed alphabetically, searched in the customary way or zeroed
in
by date -- bringing up the writers who were born on that month and day. With
hundreds of entries, the presentation provides biographical information, a
bibliography of additional references, along with a list of selected works for
each
author. A special section devoted to Nordic writers covers more than two hundred
authors, with extensive biographies and annotated bibliographies. Although the
biographies are competently written, Mr. Liukkonen is not a native English
speaker
and small flaws in the text do occur.
