1920's: The Decade That Changed London

Today's site explores 1920's London, that decade of "bright young things"
interwoven with the tattered remnants of servicemen who fought in the Great
War. Gentle Subscribers will discover a stimulating exhibit from the Museum
of London which paints a fascinating portrait of a decade of change.

"No notion was too cranky to voice, no experiment too eccentric to try.
1920's London shimmered with the nerves of the world. ... This exhibition
takes you back to London 80 years ago, a decade some see as 'the real start
of the 20th century'. ... The exhibition offers you a panorama of this
colourful decade of change and choice." - from the website

The site highlights such themes as beliefs, lifestyle, politics, machines
and the future, with sub topics linked to each theme. For example, the
lifestyle section ranges from advertising -- "Guiness is Good for You" --
to the new artistic expression in dance of Serge Diaghilev's "Ballet
Russes". Representative graphics in each section underscore the innovations
of the decade.
