The game was tied 6-6 and SAN held a brief 9-8 lead. Lake K surged ahead
and got it to double digits a handful of times in the first quarter leading
by as much as 12. Both teams hit three's in the last five seconds of the
quarter putting Lake K up 38-27 after 12 minutes. Gobert scored 13 of Lake
K's first 19 points. Thompson was 5 for 9 from downtown and scored 17
points in the quarter. Those two out scored the entire SAN team who had
four players scoring exactly 5 points. Lake K doubled up SAN in rebounds
18 to 9. Harrell was held to 2 points in 8 minutes.
In the second quarter, Lake K started on a 13-2 run to make it 51-29 less
than five minutes in. It took less than a quarter and a half for Gobert to
already accumulate a double-double. Lake K held a 24 point lead at 57-33
when SAN exploded for a 14-2 run in just over two minutes cutting the lead
in half suddenly. Young got a hoop and some harm to cut it to 62-52.
Young hit a three to cut it to 64-55. At the half, Lake K led 72-59. Lake
K shot 64% from the field to only 48% for SAN but it seemed a lot closer
than that. Gobert had game highs in points (24) and rebounds (16) both of
which could be full game amounts in a typical game. Young scored 18 points
in the second quarter to now have 23. The only other double digit man for
SAN was Wiggins at 11. Lake K got 17 from Harrell and Thompson as Harrell
scored 15 in the quarter. Ingles had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
In the third quarter, Ingles hit back to back 3's triggering a 10-0 Lake K
run to make an 82-70 game become 92-70. But SAN scored 17 of the next 23
points to again cut the lead in half in a short period of time to trail by
only 11. Thompson scored on a drive with 6 seconds left to make it a
100-87 Lake K lead heading to the 4th. Both teams had made 7 three
pointers though SAN had 7 more attempts. Young was now at 27 points and
Wiggins 16. Bagley came off the bench to score 10 against his former
team. Gobert still had game highs in points (28) and rebounds (18). Four
of the five Lake K starters had 20+ points. Both teams scored 28 points in
the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Lake K scored the first 8 points to make it a 10-0
run and 108-87 lead. The lead reached as high as 23 in the 4th quarter.
SAN went on a late run and cut it down to 12 but Lake K wins 130-116.
Harrell went for a game high 40 points. Gobert had the game of his career
with 35 points and a game high 24 rebounds. He also had 5 blocks and 4
steals. Did everything but sell some popcorn. Ingles added 23 and
Thompson finished with 21. Young was hot again in the 4th quarter and
finished with 38 points and a game high 11 assists. Wiggins and Bagley
each scored 16.
