MIN went 4 for 4 from three point land in the first four minutes of the
game. Walker got a FB dazzler to make it a double digit MIN lead at
23-13. The lead reached 12 before Lake K scored six in a row and Harrell
got an X 1-16 that came up 17 or it could have been eight straight. Both
teams hit 3's in the last five seconds of a high scoring opening quarter.
MIN was better overall and led 38-33. MIN shot 67% from both two and three
point land. Lake K only shot 52% from the field and just 33% from
distance. The only double digit scorer was Walker with 10.
In the second quarter, it took three minutes for Lake K to tie the game at
42-42, the first time since it was 9-9. The game was also tied at 44-44,
and 46-46. Griffin got an X 1-4 and it scored on a 4 to give Lake K their
first lead at 48-46 since it was 4-3. Lake K scored 8 in a row for a 58-50
lead, the biggest so far. MIN missed their first six 3's in the quarter
before Bullock hit one on a blank 5. Lake K took their first double digit
lead at 68-58 and that turned out to be the halftime score. It was role
reversal on the FG shooting with Lake K at 67% now and MIN dropping to
49%. MIN was 1 for 10 from downtown in the quarter after 6 for 9 in the
first. Lake K was 2 for 6 in both quarters. There were no offensive
rebounds by either team in the quarter, and only one for Lake K in the
whole half! Griffin had a game high 16 points while Harrell was right
behind him with 15. Walker was still the only double digit man for MIN
with 13.
In the third quarter, it took until under three minutes left when MIN got
their first offensive rebound of the game but Lake K was still on one
also. Twice in the quarter, Gobert missed his 1-14 blocks giving MIN a
hoop instead. MIN got within six early in the 3rd but over the last eight
minutes of the quarter, Lake K held between a 10 and 16 point lead the
whole time. Heading to the 4th, Lake K was up 103-89. Lake K's shooting
edge was 66% to 52%. MIN now actually led 2-1 in offensive rebounds after
36 minutes. Harrell was now the game high scorer with 25 points in 24
minutes. Griffin had 24 points and a game high 7 assists. Walker was
leading MIN with 23 points. Sexton was the only other double digit man for
MIN with 15 points in 15 minutes.
In the fourth quarter, Green found his 1-4 blocks to prevent a Griffin
bucket and it led to a FB hoop to cut the lead to 11. Walker got fouled on
a three but only made 1 of the 3 FT's to cut it to 115-105 with 6:44 left.
Griffin scored on an offensive rebound but Hield hit a three to cut it to
117-108. Green missed his 1-4 blocks giving Griffin a bucket but Walker
hit a three on a D-8 to cut it to 119-111 with 5:57 left. Griffin scored
inside but Walker hit another three on a blank 5 to cut it to 121-114 with
5:29 left. Griffin hit a three on a blank 11. Hield and Ingles each
missed 3's. Hield and Thompson each missed 3's. Bertans hit a three on a
D-4 with 4"06 left but Smart scored on a drive on a D-12. Hield missed
another three but Green tipped in the miss. Griffin missed inside and
Walker hit a three on a D-8 again to suddenly make it a 126-122 lead and
the closest MIN had gotten in the second half with 3:16 to go. Eight 3's
and 33 points for MIN in the first nine minutes of the 4th. Ingles got a
dazzler but Walker made two FT's. Harrell scored on an offensive rebound
and Bullock missed a three. Griffin got a dazzler and Green missed
inside. Griffin got another dazzler and Green missed a three. Walker
tipped in the miss to make it 134-126 with 1:27 left. Lake K took a 24 sec
violation and Walker missed a three. Thompson was fouled intentionally and
made both for a 136-126 lead with 0:45 left. Hield hit a three on a blank
6 but Lake K made 4 of 6 FT's at the end and hung on to win 140-134,
MIN made 10 of their 19 three pointers in the 4th quarter and put up a 46
spot in the last 12 minutes. Lake K scored 27 in the 4th, our best quarter
as well, and it was needed with the offensive explosion from MIN. Walker
scored 20 of his game high 43 points in the 4th. Hield finished with 17
and together those two hit 10 of 20 three balls. With no Curry, Lake K got
monster games from Harrell and Griffin. Harrell scored 36 points and
grabbed a game high 15 rebounds. Griffin approached a triple double with
35 points, 7 rebounds, and a game high 9 assists. Lake K had seven score
in double figures and an eighth had 9 points. MIN only had four in double
figures.
