Thanks. Yes, looks like the spell checker got to me again. Just tried it
again, and "Front" was the result when I entered "Grint" this time.

SOGAGG,
Thanks to Shaft, I looked into The Grint App. It gave me some problems
on the iphone, but it works quite well on my PC. I loaded the app, which
is free for handicap index management (they call it “handicap.”). It
works well, including adjusting for equitable stroke control based on your
“handicap.”
I think it would be best if anyone who does not maintain a handicap
index through SCGA/GHIN uses Grint to post their scores and maintain a
handicap index for free. This would eliminate any need for one of us to
keep updates going.

Charlie/Rules – thanks for sharing the information on calculating
handicaps. I have been keeping my scores on a free online service for
keeping scores and calculating indexes. It is called “the Grint”. I will
plug the additional scores I have in your excel file and see if the
handicap index calculated matches with what I currently have with Grint.
Let you know if I have a problem. For what it is worth, my handicap index
is calculated at around 18 right now with Grint.
Sure had a lot of fun last week, back to work today.

Subject: [sogagg] SOGAGG Handicap Index Calculations
SOGAGG,
The following is from “Rules,” so it is dry and complex. Such is life
sometimes.
I have attached a couple of files. The .docx file defines handicap index,
course rating, and slope rating. The .xlsx file provides my proposed
assignment of handicap indexes for SOGAGG players.
What and why. We need an equitable method for determining course
handicaps for members competing during our events. If everyone had a USGA
/ GHIN / SCGA handicap index, we could just use that. Unfortunately, not
everyone does. So, I’ve used the scores we made during the latest Las
Vegas trip to calculate indexes for those that played. I used the scores
recorded, adjusted these using equitable stroke control, used the USGA
method for calculating handicap indexes using those scores, and took the
lower of that index or an established SCGA index for those that have them.
I listed that number under “SOGAGG INDEX.”
For those members who don’t play enough golf elsewhere to justify
maintaining an SCGA (e.g.) index, I would be pleased to maintain the
current process. Just send me any scorecards (preferably via email) from
games that you play, whether as part of SOGAGG or elsewhere. Past outings
are fine.
Survey Monkey:
A. OK.
B. No way in hell!
