Subject: [sogagg] SOGAG Cup 2017 Results
For those who missed it, here are some pics and recap. In the closest match in
SOGAGG history, and why wouldn’t it be as it was the first one, the White Team
narrowly edged out the Green Team 3-2 claiming the Cup. It was an epic match
in brutal 100 degree temperatures on an unforgiving course.
Divot(Green) vs. Shaft(White)
Divot, absolutely crushing the opening drive of the tournament, led the Green
Team to an early lead. Shaft hung in there, even claiming closest to the pin
along the way, got to within 1, but Divot came to play and put the first point
on the board for Team Green.
sHank (White) vs Rules(Green)
Another great match with each going up and then down by 2 a couple of times in
the match. The golf gods were on the White Teams side when the Ramona winds
pushed Rules tee shot on the 17th into the trees landing within a few feet of
Docho’s, not 1, but 2 golf clubs he left behind! Rules then made an
incredible up & down playing from on the cart path, pushing the match to the
18th, only to come up a little short on the final hole.
Birdee(White) vs Axe(Green)
White teams rookie Birdie made an impressive SOGAGG debut, but the veteran Axe,
remained cool in the heat, and posted a 6 spot on the long tough uphill par 5
13th (matching or beating ALL the SOGAGG guys) on one of the toughest holes in
San Diego, put a green flag up for her team.
OB(White) vs Woods(Green)
OB, parred the first to go up by 1. Woods rallied to go up by two, but OB
turned the table to even it at the turn. Back & forth it went, with each going
up by 1 only to have the other battle back. OB prevailed and the White Team
registered a point.
Ace(White) vs Docho(Green)
The White team, shaken by Divots opening salvo, needed a hero, but the White
Team had an Ace up their sleeve. Aces’s towering opening tee shot easily
cleared the lake and it was game on from there on out. Check out the pic with
the point by Ace, and this was only hole #1! Rory and Patrick were boring
compared to Docho and Ace! Ace parred the opener, but Docho battled back and
in yet another back and forth match, Ace, and the White Team narrowly prevailed.
I suspect that a rematch will soon be in order with rumors of a Pinehurst
format in the near future.
Thanks to all, and especially Rules for the custom score cards!
Have a Great Holiday Weekend!
sHank
