SOGAGGers,
Just to be clear, I did not mean to suggest we move to a site near the Vegas
strip. Grandview is the best option for me, with the two-bedroom suites at
$349 plus taxes and limited traffic issues. Also, Grandview appears to have a
number of rooms available in October. It may be that there would not be enough
rooms. Then we would probably need to spread out—it would just make joining up
a bit more difficult.
So, how about a survey response? I’ve attached a spreadsheet. Please change
the file name to replace “callsign” with your callsign; place an “X” in the box
for weeks that you are available and would be willing to join the event; place
and “X” in the Grandview box, or a lodging name in the “Other” box; add any
comments in the “Notes” box; and attach in a return email to me (
<mailto:chopkins294@xxxxxxxxx> chopkins294@xxxxxxxxx) or to
<mailto:sogsgg@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> sogsgg@xxxxxxxxxxxxx. (If I missed you on the
list, please add your callsign.)
Warm Regards,

Hello from the Lone Star State y'all!!!
I totally agree with Rules that our Supreme SOGAGG Founder and Leader must be
in attendance. My vote is mid Oct when the weather is much more favorable.
Although Grandview has been a nice option these past years I also like Rule's
suggestion to move to a site near the Vegas strip. The Wyndham Grand Desert is
available on AFVC starting October 20th at $349 for a 1 bedroom. No 2 bedrooms
at that price but $50 per/night for a 1 bedroom is still s great deal and fine
with me. It's in walking distance to MGM and Hard Rock Hitel and Casino. Also,
We could all chip in for an extra 1 bedroom for our hospitality suite for an
extra $7 per day per person if we have eight participants. 😜
Welcome other opinions.
Thanks to Axe and Rules for keeping Vegas on the horizon.
Cheers

Ace,
I don't know how we could do this without you. I discovered that one can put
in a search with Armed Forces Vacation Club. It has multiple openings in May
2018 at
THE CARRIAGE HOUSE
Property ID: 1837
Address: 105 East Harmon Ave. Las Vegas NV 89109 USA
Phone: 702/798-1020
It has one bedroom suites for $349.
Close to all the gambling action and live entertainment of the Vegas Strip, The
House has no noisy casino or night club to keeps guests and their children
awake at night. Pool and tennis courts are on-site, as is a nice exercise
facility and laundry room. Movies, games, and pool toys can be checked out free
of charge. Parking is close and also free. High-speed Internet service is also
free.
It may be possible for the military retirees to book two rooms, since others
would not be able to get this price.
Yelp reviews are rather mixed, with some scary. Looks like renovation was an
issue as was the manager.
Another option is to shift to mid-October. The weather has returned to the
80's, and there are numerous units available at Grandview.
Thoughts?

Sorry to miss but I will be in D.C for our United Through Reading's annual
Tribute to Military Families which we hold on the third full week of May
each year. I just returned last night from this year's gala (see attached).
Very best,

SOGAAG Brothers-
Rules and I just made reservations 19-26 May 2018 at the Grandview Resort
for $369 plus tax in a 2 bedroom suite. The Grandview resort, located next
to Southpoint Casino has been the resort of choice for SOGAAG golf trips to
Vegas. The resort is connected with the Armed Forces Vacation Club and
stays can often be booked, depending on availability, for about $350/week
for a "2 bed room suite". In actuality these suites are really 2 one-
bedroom suites with a common access door. Each suite has its own bed room,
living room, kitchen and bath.
We are hoping that some or all of you can join us for a week of great golf,
conviviality and camaraderie.
We are just now on our way home from there after spending 4 days playing
golf and seeing shows with friends. While it was a little hot this time of
year, the courses were in great shape.
If you are interested let us know and we will coordinate reservations for
additional 2 bedroom suites. We can make our second suite the party room,
or, if we don't have an even number, accommodate a SOGAAGer.
Best-
Axe and Rules
