BTW for all, did y’all know that Bonita is secretly not only incorporated
but a privatized community with the purpose of agricultural and equestrian
development? This curious construct is the result of a masterful series of
pieces of legislation labeled ‘historic preservation’ designed to establish
water rights and cannabis cultivation. It is rather similar to the covenant
in Rancho Santa Fe. Why you ask? Well, golf course development is
suspected to be the primary motivation. And where is the city council and
mayor? You guessed it….aka Bonita Optimist Club. Brilliant.

SOGAGG Colleagues,
Our June SOGAGG outing is pretty special. It’s the 25th annual Heroes for
Children charity tournament on June 17th conducted by the Bonita Optimist
Club. All proceeds for this event go directly to supporting the youth of
our community, especially those whose family cannot afford to provide
their children with the necessities of life that others enjoy. Here are
the details (also see attachments):
· Friday, June 17th (you can even work in the morning if you wish)
· Chula Vista Muni Golf Course (https://www.chulavistagc.com)
(which is actually on 4475 Bonita Road in the “fiercely independent and
unincorporated community of Bonita”)
· 12:30 PM start.
· $150 per player. However, if you register as part of a foursome,
your cost drops to $137.50 (see below).
o I have registered and paid for three foursomes so please advise me if
you will play and I can work out your payment details later.
o If we have more than 12 SOGAGGers playing, I’ll just add another
foursome or two and pay those in advance also.
o We can decide on who is populating which foursome once we get all the
names in.
· You will note at the attachment that for your $137.50 you receive:
o Welcome Lunch
o Round of golf
o Gift Bag
o Cart
o Tournament Contest Card with:
§ Player-only raffle ticket
§ 19th hole banquet dinner in club house
§ Hole-in-one contest for a new Honda
§ Unlimited range balls
· There will be a 50/50 drawing
· There will be a live auction
· There will be a bar set up at the banquet dinner
· Work is in process for free beer
· I’ll bring the new SOGAGG pullovers for those who have not yet
received theirs
· There will also be a ball-drop with the winning ball owner
receiving $1,000.00
There’s probably more but it’s pretty much the last of the good deals
(probably because it’s put on by an Optimist Club).
