SOGAGG Warriors,

We have had three Society members join!  Here is the revised list (still in
alphabetical order and with our welcome additions in red):

Bounceback to spend the day with us)

Trek and WOXOF have standing commitments for the 19th and Old Slice is
getting some medical attention as a result of a fair bit of recent mountain
biking.

 

Current status:  (1)  Awaiting Bagger's decision as to whether he can play
on that date.  If so, we have 16 SOGAGGers (we've already surpassed the old
record of 13 at Mount Woodson).  However, while Bounceback will be able to
drive a cart and maybe do some putting, he won't be able to play a full-up
round of golf so the intent here is to ensure he can participate as much as
possible while still having 16 full-up golfers.  The list above reflects 14
full-up players and Bounceback, so Woods, please invite Casey Tanaka and
that will make 15 full-up players.  If Bagger can make it, we're at 16
full-up players and if he cannot, we will add one more player to the group.

 

I will register and settle four foursomes.  In case you weren't aware, the
Warner Springs Ranch Resort Golf Club's winter schedule (even though it's
warmer out there) is Thursday through Sunday so I can't make contact until
tomorrow (at first light).  As I mentioned in my previous email, their
policy is to not accept tee time registrations outside of a one-week window
but I intend to advise them that we have an Italian in the Society and he
has two friends:  "Guido" and "No-Neck."  I'm optimistic.

 

I think we'll have a better idea of what breakfast planning looks like once
the tee times are confirmed.

 

Finally, the logistics of carpooling are nearing Omaha Beach proportions.
For those who could ferry themselves and others in their vehicle, would you
confirm to all via email that you're willing to do so please?  Count me in
as one of those who can do so.

 

Okay, my only concern is whether those people out there fully understand
what's about to happen to them.

Society Colleagues,

We have a good number of players available for the 12th and the 19th, with
the fewest for the 26th.  Our outing date, as determined by Mother Nature,
is Saturday, January 19th.  As several of you have mentioned, the weather
forecast calls for rain beginning this Friday evening and continuing on
through at least Tuesday, although several sources indicated through
Thursday, with the heaviest rainfall (currently) scheduled for this Saturday
(of course).

Note (1) :  I'm going to schedule four (vice three) foursomes so for any of
you who indicated you cannot make the 19th, please check your schedule and
see if you can join.  I will schedule five foursomes if necessary and we'll
make it a record setting day.

Note (2):   The course does not allow tee times to be made until one week
prior to the golfing date.  I'm going to try and get a waiver on that and
get it done ASAP.  More to follow as soon as that's done.

 

We can work out the carpooling amongst ourselves.

Happy New Year SOGAGG Colleagues!

 

I hope you all had a great holiday season.  I for one, am recovering from
the world's nastiest cold, KD is trying to work his way back from acute
bronchitis, and I'm guessing we're not alone in that regard.  You know, I
don't know which is worse, the cold itself or the cold medicines my wife
makes me take that cause me hallucinogenic dreams.  Maybe I should check to
see where she buys this stuff from.

 

Society members, what do you say we start the new year off with a good,
plain old fashioned SOGAGG outing where we can all get back together, catch
up, remember to conduct ourselves in a barely society-acceptable manner, and
just.have.some.relaxed.fun?

 

I would like to host our first 2019 outing at the Warner Springs Ranch
Resort.  I think we actually conducted a SOGAGG round there a number of
years ago before it closed down.  It's back up and running now under great
new ownership, although it is not yet in tip-top shape, which pretty much
falls in line with our play.  I was thinking we could do the usual muster in
the morning at Fry's Electronics for those who want to car pool.  I'm also
thinking of setting a tee time of around the 0830-0900 time frame so we can
get some breakfast in.  Let me know if we should go off earlier or later.

 

Here are the three dates for consideration:

 

*         Saturday, January 12th

*         Saturday, January 19th

*         Saturday, January 26th

 

Let me know your preference(s) and I'll get us registered and paid for.  All
we have to do is show up, probably hungry, and tee off out in the quietude
of a golf course with no neighbors and lots of wild turkeys, etc.

 

I'm hoping we can get three foursomes.  It would really be good to put the
band back together and kick off the new year with some laughs and hard times
being given.  We should all be back home by mid to late afternoon to enjoy
the rest of the weekend with the more sane people in our lives.
