Hi Gina,

Yes we have bees - but they really have to look after themselves. I used
beeswax and honey in my soaps when I first started. I don't use beeswax
anymore and use organic manuka honey now - mainly for label appeal!

No the alkanet won't stifle the lather - it is the potassium lactate that will
affect it a little.

Yes the orange and deep purple one would look good together - an idea brewing
here.

I know exactly what you mean regarding other handmade soaps. I like to buy
every now and then just to make sure I'm keeping up with what is out there.
But really, not to be, rude, I think my soap is just fine and priced right.
Can't believe that person said that she only did medicinal soap - love her to
define that. Were they for eczema and psorasis maybe? Any good handmade soap
will do just fine without irritating the condition.

Re the forum - I think it will be ok. I've probably offended Ruth and I hope
she doesn't go away. I love the comments - it is nice to know what other
people perceive and take from my product.

Cheers for now
Liz

Liz to you do still keep bees?

I have two bee hives myself at home and have been bee keeping for only just
over a year now and yes using it in my soap. I did not use it in my swap soap
as i wanted to keep my soap white.

I haven't used the soaps yet. I like to sit on them looking at them for some
time cause once used of course they are gone. I was not aware that alkanet
might stifle lather Liz?

Liz sent me a small version of the swap soap some time ago with a orange one
the same size and i thought they looked fantastic together. They would also
look cool if the soap was half of each.........half almost black and half
almost orange. I like the chunkiness of the bar and i can see that it is truly
full of good ingredients more so than some I have bought.

I did a buy up before Xmas of soaps from Trade Me and I can tell you that
some the the most expensive were the poorest soaps in look, lather etc.

I had invited one ladie who will remain nameless and not on the list to join
and she had said that she only did medicinal soap and was not interested in
craft soaps........i was a little taken back as i make soaps for there color,
smell and often for their therapeutic qualities.

She sent me about 12 bars of soap all nearly exactly the same. They were
re-milled soaps with fragrance and smelt and looked like pamolive.. I gave
them to my mother.
