I have learnt that it pays to have a back up (which don't at the moment but
really need to work on replacing)

And I am still having scales issues! I had to go borrow a pair, my
relatively new digital scales broke down two weeks ago and the three
replacements have done the same, its been doing my head in and tonight I
realised the monthly market is this Sunday and I wont be able to get another
pair before then! Crumbs! Todays episode was put an item on the scales and
it would start at a weight and then gradually descend 1 gm by 1 gm til I
pulled all my hairs out ..grrrr..

Ohh...tell, tell. Will we like it?

Totally know what you mean by the sense of accomplishment when you have
done a batch or two. I still get the itch to cut!

Sorry I have not commented. You guys/girls are really on to it. My
apologies. I am right in the middle of doing something important to do with
soap that I can not tell you right at this moment but hopefully I can later
on today...........if my husband would just agree. Hence I have been a
little absent and have not opened all the soaps yet just keep looking at
them. I am surprised that I have been able to take the feedback well.
Thanks for it. I think I would not use that sent together again. I guess
people like lemongrass to be the dominant smell. I was trying to underpin
the two lavenders with it so maybe should have been the other way around. I
will provide recipe used shortly.

I go through phases. I have just been through the full-on color phase so
decided to go back to scratch and start again with no color..hence the plain
soap. I wanted it to be simple so I think I achieved this.

My biggest aim at the moment is to perfect a swirl and mostly I am totally
unhappy with my swirls. My standards have risen recently and I find myself
rejecting and re-batching alot of my soap. Its become a life goal to learn
to swirl...........is that sick or what? I don't think so but my non-soap
friends might.

You know in the past it was not uncommon for a family member to walk in and
go yum is that custard your making...no soap.............or is that brownie
you made...........no soap. Get the idea. Since i started the business I
do not even cook diner every night for my family anymore. And guess what I
do not even feel guilty. Lucky my 23 year old is out of the
house.....pushed and the twins (girls ) are 16 and I want them to cook for
themselves.

In 10 years I have never got sick of making soap. I must make at least one
batch on the weekends then I feel like I have achieved something good. I
think that soap making is like having a spiritual connection with the God or
the earth. There is something good and whole about it.

I will let you in on a little secret. All the people that have contacted me
to do a soap course well......... half of them are men (about 10). I
thought that was really serendipitous.

Did I tell you guys that some of my best friends i have met make soap. I
have met them through lists like this. I spent 2 days with a soap women in
France in 2008 and we regularly email each other and every year for the last
6 years i have gone to the gold coast and do a mini soap swap with three
soap makers there.

Wonderful connections to be made here.
