Hi Rebecca

How do you put the paper into a hard piece of soap - gosh I hope that is not
a silly question, you can tell I'm new!

No, you want to test it after it's cured to make sure it's ready to use.
It's usually a pH of 7-8.

Do you test the PH of the soap before you put it into the moulds ie: when
it's all combined with EO and colour? What should the PH of the soap be? And
what happens if it isn't what it should be?

Hi Mandy,

Check that soap out throughout with pH paper. It could have areas where the
caustic has not completely saponified and could burn and sting.

I made some soap awhile ago I think it riced it went real gritty and then it
did a weird separation thing with some of the oil not mixing in. it has
cured now, it stil looks weird smells great so what I am doing with it I am
going to make chunk soap, that's what I use all my crappy bits for and I
have made 5 chunk soaps so far and they are awesome, people really love them
cos they look so spectacular, I will take ssome photos and post. I chop up
the soap into small bits and make a normal soap recipe up - I weigh the
chunks so I can get the right proportion for the soap.then mix the chunks it
at trace and mold as per normal....so there is never a wasted bit of soap in
my house! And if you use bits of different soaps you get a great effect. So
I turn my disasters into great things!

Hi All

Sorry been busy making my batch of soap for soap swap, takes about 8 weeks
to cure because of high olive oil content, used fragrance oils and.......

@##@!

Now I know what riced is because I have seen it first hand, my first batch
of failed soap and I'm pretty p***d!

Didn't even get to mix the colours in very well, looks like rice pudding!

My question to experience soapers - is the batch worth keeping??? Or should
it be chucked??

Cheers
Louise
