Ross, Thanks for the info re the titanium dioxide - I'm excited to try
something I haven't done before. I have some titanium dioxide, but have
never used it!

Thanks too, for the info on the fos - I'm really tempted. But, I've still
so much to learn about eos, and have an excellent book - so it might have to
wait for now.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to change your packaging - it is really lovely and
I imagine would really appeal to women buyers.

What I used to do at markets and do at retail outlets, and it is very
effective, cos although you can see my soap, you can't smell the scent - is
to provide a sample size - in my case half the size of full size. Type up a
little label with the name of the soap and scent - ensure it is covered with
clear sticky wrap (that clear contact stuff), - back and front cut it out
(I used little labels, Avery 65's) and then use a pin to push through the
label into the soap. They look tidy and professional. The public can pick
them up and look, feel and smell to their delight. Every 6 months or so as
the scent fades (probably less often with fos) I replace the samples. The
retailer is happy and the customer is more likely to purchase. I wouldn't
worry about a soap menu, as it is the visual thing that is needed - I think.

I would give this a go before doing away with your boxes.

Liz

Thanks, Liz

The soap was natural, uncoloured soap swirled through soap with titanium
dioxide. It is definitely the titanium dioxide which gave the crackled look

Generally about scent - I usually create the fragrance blend to the
concept/name rather than other way around and I think that makes a
difference. Plus the fragrance blend is usually fairly complex. The thing
about FOs is they are quite concentrated (the same with EOs) and they smell
very different when diluted which is why when blending you should use a
piece of blotter or tissue. I also test on my skin.

I really have to rethink the packaging. I have some at a co-op store the
comment was that people (and women in particular) would be more likely to
buy if they could see the soap and the colours. Shame it didn't travel
well. I might have to go towards your beautiful packaging but I love my
boxes L any thoughts around this? I thought of doing a soap "menu" for the
co-op store with pics

I also have concerns about the shape. Some love it and some find it
awkward. Some changes required here I think

I am really aware of the label issue. I have made some changes but still
not happy. I really want all of the info on there.

Thanks for your feedback, Liz. I really love Lothario

Ross

Ross, if it is not a secret, can you tell me how you achieved the crazed
look - I just love it. Did you use titanium dioxide for this? It is
consistent and not - very beautiful, different and stunning. I want to try!

Also, I think your soap has put a whole different light on fragrant oil
soaps for me. I have not found one that I have liked yet. I think with the
right combinations a good fo scent can be enjoyable. Although I didn't like
the scent at first, in the shower it is really attractive (if you can call a
scent attractive)! It lingers on my skin, which I usually don't like - I
may experiment. I feel you have a lot of experience with blending and it
shows.

Well done!

Ross's Creation - Lothario

Initial Visual Impression
Beautiful box - but it didn't travel well and was squashed. Loved the name.
The font on the label is sooooooo tiny that even with my glasses I struggled
to read the description under the name. Which is a touch I really liked -
very descriptive. The scent was very, very strong and overpowering.

Packaging
Beautiful. I'm not a fan of boxes, as I like to have some idea of what is
inside, but I loved the box, very femine and attractive.

Soap - Non shower experience
Oh wow, what a beautiful look and feel. Creamy colour with a same colour
sort of swirl and the outside feel and look is crazed, like old china (which
I love). Interesting shape - not sure if I liked it or not, but really like
the fact that it is different.

Soap - in the shower
Interesting to hold - perhaps for me a little shorter. Fantastic lather. A
nice hard bar. The scent is much more alluring in the shower. I actually
liked it - high praise from me. I generally do not like fragrant oil scents.
I guess because of this I don't use soap with fo. The scent lingers and is
less in your face in the shower and out.

Summary

Up the font size on the label, because I think the recipient of the soap is
missing out - if they need reading glasses like me! Beautiful packaging, I
find names hard to come up with, and I liked this name - it matched the
soap. Really liked the look of the soap, interesting and as a soapmaker want
to know how you accomplished the look. I would definitely buy, but not if in
a box.
