Liz are there any concerns with the plastic leaching when  heated.  I
thought the plastic might melt and so have only ever used glass jugs but I
might consider plastic ones now.

I use plastic jugs.  Stainless steel can get very hot and burn.  I have so
many plastic jugs, and as soon as the Warehouse or Briscoes have a sale, I'm
in there for some more, I use them for absolutely everything!

 

Just make sure they are able to be put in the microwave and you will know
they can deal with the high temps of lye and won't get soft or melt.
