I would bet that cochineal would be eaten up by the lye.

As for the purple colour you only need a small pinch for a pale colour like
a small pinch of salt. Its very powerful. Just be aware sometimes in
speckles which some people do not want.

Just wondering if anybody knows whether it's OK to use cochineal to colour
soap. I'm thinking of making a rose soap and would like it coloured pale
pink. Any suggestions? Also wondering how many grams of Gina's purple
powder to add to a batch to get a pale purple soap. Do I mix it in a bit of
olive oil before I add it?

What's your secret Ross - how do you get soap that lathers so well, but
isn't so drying on your skin?

Hi Ross

I picked up your soaps yesterday. I was struck straight away by their very
different scents which I can't quite define though their scent made me
recall such things from my childhood as going up into a hot attic. Am
starting off with Kronos. The soap has a lovely smooth feel and lathers
well. The scent strength (to me) is strong without being overwhelming.
Soap was cut very squarely and cleanly unlike mine. I will enjoy them.
