Kia ora Well I just bougth some liquid stuff from aromatics and more and have only used it once, had no idea of how much to use but it was also in a coconut oil based lather in sea water bar and apparently large amounts of coc oil always goes white anyhow so I am not much further ahead really in terms of how much to use and I would try the actual root if I could get it. I wonder if its easy to grow..where do you get it from? What I do is exactly that - unfortunately I have never weighed or measured. But that is mainly because the roots are thick and thin. I have made soap in all colours from barely discernable lilac to the deepest purple. I leave mine in the oil all the time - I always have an infusion going. Make sure the jar of olive and alkanet root are in full sun - and if you want to hurry things along, you just need to heat gently in a pot or crockpot for a few hours. I just like it to do its thing. If leaving for a set amount of time, I'd say a minimum of 48 hours and the longer the better. Alkanet can give you a huge range of colours, hopefully you will get a lovely lavender and not the slate grey!! Let me know how you get on.
