That's what I'm trying to say. Since the group is trying to populate itself, let's get ANYONE that is interested in *nix systems, regardless of their background and experience. :) That's all :) -----Original Message----- From: snafuu-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:snafuu-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Dan Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2001 10:11 AM To: snafuu@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [snafuu] Re: Prototype Web Page Posted My 2 cents...since every else has commented on this :) I think we should have "Linux" in the name of the group. We don't have to alienate other *nix users, but we should have a focus. Its hard to pass info back and forth about a large topic, and if we covered ALL free-unix-like Os's then it would be difficult with just monthly meetings. Just my opinion. I rather focus on Linux but if someone wanted to talk about how they use FreeBSD for a firewall Im not going to yell at them "This is a LINUX group." --Dan I realize that the name i picked(Savannah Near by Area Free Unix Users) has not been the biggest hit but i choose it was so that people who use "other" Unix's/OS's would not feel that they were second rate or not welcome. I use LInux for 98 % of what i do. 2% being DR-Dos and WINE. i also have disks for Solaris and freeBSD. I've played with them from time to time. I also find BEos interesting, but have not taken the time to look into it. besides, I figure that if i can't try these others from time to time to see how they perform then how will i know that the one i'm using is still best for me. I would appreciate it if every effort could be made not to alienate those who use other forms of unix, especially the free unix's. exit soap box
