I. Red Hat® Increases Number of RHCE Testing Centers

In response to the rising popularity of the Red Hat Certified Engineer
certification, Red Hat® recently announced that it has added nine
additional testing centers across North America to administer the exam.
Cities added to the list: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, New York,
Portland, Salt Lake City, Washington, DC, and Toronto, Canada.
This is great news for IT pros preparing for the Red Hat exam.
Students previously had to travel to either San Francisco, Santa Clara,
or Durham, NC to take the RHCE lab exam.

III. IBM, Oracle and Dell Announce New Linux Initiatives

IBM, Oracle and Dell gave the Linux movement a huge boost
this month at the Linux Expo in New York and Paris when they
announced new Linux initiatives.
IBM announced they've committed an additional $300 million to
Linux projects. This is in addition to the $1 billion they've
already budgeted for Linux development. IBM also introduced a new
64-processor server that will run Linux applications.
Oracle has become one of biggest promoters of Linux, and they
strengthened their commitment to the open-source OS by offering
Linux versions of their Parallel Server and Internet File Systems.
In addition, Oracle announced they are working with Dell to bring
Oracle 9i to Linux customers running Intel-based servers.
With these companies behind it, Linux use on corporate servers is
sure to escalate rapidly.

IV. CCNA Certification Boosts Salaries 16%!
------------------------------------------------------------------
The results of Certification Magazine's first annual salary survey
are in. The survey found that earning any IT certification made a
positive impact on annual wages, but some certifications really upped
salaries. Cisco's CCNA certification added an average of $9,967 per
year to IT pro's annual salaries! Oracle certifications were also
richly rewarded ? professionals who earned an Oracle certification
pocketed an extra $7,471 per year.
