[snafuu] CD/RW

i was going start looking for a new CD/RW drive.
my old one had listed linux as a supported OS.
i just got back from BestBuy. they had alot of brands from Sony, Memorex,
IOmega, and a few others that i recognized, but none said that they were
suppoert on linux.
does this matter?
Wally world has one that lists Linux as readonly.
is that just out of the box?
thoughts, suggestions?
