I’d like to try to reign this conversation in a bit and try to manage
email volumes for us all. My work and work email is impacted greatly by
COVID 19 and I’m also trying to stay on top of this topic and bring
resolution to our plan of action for this year.
My records show that we have about 4,713 of accumulated scholarship
member donations. We always want to save some of those funds for future
needs.
I propose the following:
* we table the separate account conversation and revisit in near future
* SMBA agrees to fund two scholarships as has been customary in past
years, albeit it can me modified in cases where there are concerns of low
general funds such as last year (possibly - to be confirmed)
* Jean will send an update of total donations tagged to the Laird fund
* Kristen will work with Heath to identify recipient of Laird award
* SMBA approves award of 5 scholarships of $250 of which two are SMBA
funded, one is Laird donation funded, and two are funded but SMBA member
donations, as well as $75 for three requesting camps. The total will be
$1,325. This provides the ability to speak to a higher total of people
touched by our program, and also reserves funds for the future of the program.
Please respond to above with your approval or disapproval of the proposed
bullets above.
Thanks,
Kristen

When they pay more than $15, any amount paid over $15 will be
posted to whatever they specify - scholarship or general fund.
If they do not specify which one, I will post it to the general
fund.
Since our treasury is in good shape, and we don't have any plans to
spend the money, that I know of, I suggest we spend it on the
eight scholarship applicants. (8 x 250 = 2,000)
